Growth Hormone. in large doses it causes te internal organs to swell.

Thanks for the info...but beyond what causes that nasty thing, I don't know how could be permitted as part of a proportioned body...I mean competitive bodybuilding looks for proportion, size, shape, symetry, poses, in other words, it looks for perfection in body development. In that case, this notorious GH side effect should be penalized under what are bodybuilding principles. But instead of that, seems like it is taken as a normal process of body develpment. That's wrong.

I agree that shit is nastier than a damn fat gut, looks like the guy is deformed or some shit...Arnold had the perfect build...I was watching a video of Ronnie Coleman at a recent Mr. O and couldn't get over how his fuckin' gut hung out, looked like he was a fatass.

I always thought it was from their diet in the off season. I mean they look like a regular fat bastard in the off season, in which case causes their abs to stretch. Then they cut down just a few months prior to contests, you know that's not normal for the body.

I read an article on Dexter Jackson once where he stated the reason he has a tapered waist is because he stays within a certain range, unlike many others.

i agree GH gut is repulsive looking. there is a trainer at my gym who is impressively built except for his GH gut. he always wears tight stretchy shirts so you can see his deep cut abs on his protruding stomach. it is really disturbing looking. you would think he would play this down with looser Tshirts.

when did GH become a standard drug in BB? it must have been fairly recent because the BBs of Arnold's era and thru the 80s did not have GH gut and of course were not nearly as big as the freaks of today.

i suppose to make it as a BB today you have to use GH to compete, but bigger doesn not necessarily mean better. the pros of the 70s and 80s looked way better aesthetically.

steroids give great results when used properly. GH should be banned.

Just a thought...most pro power lifters have a gut..(i know fat too, but their focus is different) but it is said that they must pack extra fat and connective tissue into the abdominal cavity to compensate for the intrabdominal pressures generated during power lifts. Now, I recently watched both of Ronnie Coleman's videos...and goddamnit that man can lift a lot of weight...given his decreased bf%...is the gut just more pronounced, but caused from the same type of thing??? Not that I am discounting the GH gut...it does give rise to a certain degree of acromegaly (features and organs).

Actual GH didn't exist in those golden Arnold years...the sinthetic (sp) version of GH was available for human use in early 90's.

Anyhow, I still insist that the gut is really really nasty. Not only looks like a regular fat dude but the worst of all, you can see ripped abs, but rounded from inside...like if something is fat inside the body....that's really disgusting...that's a total hole in bodybuilding judgement.

Pro BB is one sport you can easily spot what era a pro is from, even if you are looking just at the physique, based on what drugs are in at the time.

it will be interesting to see where it goes in ten years. what drugs will be available then? i am not sure it has gone in the right direction. most of these pros look like ugly freaks these days. the amateur guys look better.

yup. Amateur guys look more like old school pro guys. And that look is cool. Proportioned, healthy and strong.

I would like to know at what dose of Gh causes that gut look? Hey glennds go ask that trainer how much gh he takes and when he asks why tell him, cause I dont wanna look pear shaped like you beouchhhhh!!!! :p :p seriously though, does anyone have a dose that you wouldnt go above to avoid that look? pre shade it.

Now I am not sure how much GH a pituitary tumor secretes as far as iu's go, but I do know that any excess can lead to a condition called aromegaly...remember Andre the Giant...Remeber how he looked...He had acromegaly...I am not sure if his was onset before puberty ended and that was why he was so tall, but it does account for his features...and his death.
Acromegaly
What is acromegaly?
Acromegaly is the Greek word for "extremities" and "enlargement." When the pituitary gland produces excess growth hormones, this results in excessive growth -- called acromegaly. The excessive growth occurs first in the hands and feet, as soft tissue begins to swell. Acromegaly affects mostly middle-aged adults. Untreated, the disease can lead to severe illness and death.

What are the symptoms of acromegaly?
Symptoms of acromegaly vary depending on how long the patient has had the disease. The following are the most common symptoms. However, each individual may experience symptoms differently:

swelling of the hands and feet
facial features become coarse as bones grow
body hair becomes coarse as the skin thickens and/or darkens
increased perspiration accompanied with body odor
protruding jaw
voice deepening
enlarged lip, nose, and tongue
thickened ribs (creating a barrel chest)
joint pain
degenerative arthritis
enlarged heart
enlargement of other organs
strange sensations and weakness in arms and legs
snoring
fatigue and weakness
headaches
loss of vision
irregular menstrual cycles in women
breast milk production in women
impotence in men
The symptoms of acromegaly may resemble other conditions or medical
problems.

Left untreated, acromegaly can lead to diabetes mellitus and hypertension.
The disease also increases a patient's risk for cardiovascular disease and
colon polyps that may lead to cancer.
