I dated an extremely rich woman for a few years when I was in the Army - she was from what I *think* at the time was the richest family in Louisiana. Regardless they are very prominent. i met her in Savannah, GA.

It was fun - when my friends took their girlfriends out to a nice place in Atlanta, I went to Key West. When they had weekend get aways in Panama City, I went to her place outside of New Orleans.

While they were initally less than thrilled, over time her family didn't object much - instead they made sure that I was exposed to all of the things they had grown up with - private clubs etc.

Our relationship fizzled when she decided she wanted to go to Asia for 6 months. She asked me to go but I could not because of military life. She then offered to write a check for me to get out of it. (The Army has a program for officers where you can actually pay back what you received in training and get out), but I declined. I was 22.

I'm dong great now - they'd love to have me. And she's still single. Hmmm....


You're right on Curling. It;s great way to go if you can.

Nice story. However, had you been, say a personal trainer or something like that instead of a military man, I don't think the family would have taken you up so easily. Military men typically have a certain level of honour, respect, and loyalty associated with them. If you were a bank teller do you think the family would have embraced you the same way?

That is where you are wrong.... two ways.

A) I don't care whether it is a guy or a girl. My view is the same.

B) Marrying purely for money is the most difficult money one can acquire.

The thing that impresses me LEAST about a man is : his money. I have dated extremely wealthy men. MOST of them were so boring or arrogant that I couldn't wait for the torturous time to end.

I date men that are a bit older. If they have not established themselves in their careers by their early to mid 40's then what the HELL have they been doing with their lives?

You know what I find amusing about statements such as yours? If I had said something even remotely close I'd be accused of prostitution! Hell, I have been accused of hooking for expecting a man to foot the bill if HE WERE TO INVITE ME OUT FOR A DINNER KNOWING FULL WELL THAT I COULD NOT AFFORD TO PAY!

Marrying purely for money or even spending time with someone JUST BECAUSE of their money is hard way to "earn" it.

I married for what I THOUGHT was love. If I ever do it again, it will be for one reason: FRIENDSHIP.

I earned my living for nearly 3 years PRETENDING to give a fahootie about what a man with money was saying. IT SUCKED ASS and probably the reason why I couldn't date "normal men" - the ones who WEREN'T only interested in me for what was in my pants. I was too busy thinking it, to ever give a guy a chance.
