I havnt been able to work out and have fallen out of the loop alltogether for about 3 years. 3 years ago (after being off for a year then) I went back to the gym (no aas) and my elbows were extremely painful. right at the back (tricep insertion i assume) and on the bottom side top of the forearm (tennis elbow) , hindering any pressing and pulling. after trying to fight through the pain i gave up. (yeah yeah i quit) it actually seemed to get worse. I couldnt drive, wear my leather jacket and hold my cell phone up to my ear without my elbow burning a little. yes yes, everyone should drive while on a cell:o . So i finally couldnt take not working out and bought enought stuff to start at home last year. I started going once a week to my massage therapist for accupressure on my elbows(a little in my rear rotators also). in around a month i was pain free for everyday tasks and still am. but even when doing dumbell inclines with 45's now, it starts to hurt in the back of my elbow at around the end of a 2nd or third set. right elbow is worse than the left. I stopped doing skull crushers back then :(:( . just lots of kick backs which really helped. and i would combine chest and tri's and engorge my tri's with some light kickbacks before chest. try to do low incline presses and same angle fly's. but still if i got to what i consider a moderate weight it would hurt for a week after. so I could only work out if i was going to accupressure therapy once a week ($55 hr). but then i was limited to each body part once a week. Not quite enough for myself to justify AAS. (in my opinion) and ofcourse i wasnt wanting to add AAS to possible tendon problems, dont get that impression. so i ended up stopping. again.
Fast forward to a year later (today) and i cannot deal with it!!! I HAVE TO work out no matter what. I am 6'0 270 i basically look like an out of shape former BB. i dont look awful to people but it disgusts me to no end. side pec fat, love handles ect. I dont want to use AAS again until i get back into decent shape, even though i was debating 3-400mg of EQ a week for the collegen effects, with cardio and lighter weights and a strict protein diet to cut all this blubber off of me.
Biggest problem is I cant really afford accupressure right now. though as soon as that changes i was going to go for just accupressure (as opposed to the full hour of that and regular massage) twice a week for 20-30 minutes. My wife can substitute a little helping with accu. so i was thinking after some reading of trying light to med. weights, No skull crushers. no barbells, dumbells only. closer grip hands facing "in" style pull downs or chins. kickbacks, for tri's.....what else could i do for tri's? Hammers for bi's. lots of band work for the tendons/ligaments. and again, aside from the possibility of EQ later on, Using lots of C and fish oil. a good joint compound. getting some super cissus @ double dose for 30 days then regular. using stop pain 30 minutes before and icing after. getting some good neoprene sleeves. staying off the 800mg motrins i have a lifetime perscription for.(only use for severe knots in my neck once in a while anyways). never used anti's for tendons(duh). and ofcoourse a good 1.5 gal of water a day. My first goal isnt about mass obviously. I am concerned with gettin (hate this term) into really good shape. getting some muscle definition back. a little size will obviously come. getting back to around 7-8% BF would be amazing for me. as i said i'm not "fat" just out of shape now.
Any help, advise, new supps for joints, criticizms ect woould be greatly appreciated.
Its nice to see some of the same face from years ago here too. Used to come here(different name) . SORRY for the long read.

my apologies guys.....forgot some possibly important info. i will be 33 very soon. probably 5 decent AAS cycles back in early to mid 20's. just test and low dose fina. each by themselves. I'm sure the extent of the damage i feel now is due to being younger then and sometimes falling into the AAS trap of too much wieght too soon.

I have went back and forth many times with tendinitis and the only way I have been able to fix it is by stopping the use of the arm. I spent the last two months out with tendinitis of the elbow and eventually just stopped using the arm. I bought a sling and just left the arm in a sling and made sure not to use it. I am a programmer so I also have tendinitis in both wrists that flare up at times and all i can do is not use them until the pain is gone. Use an ice pack on them once or twice a day. I wish there was a miracle drug that worked on it but I haven't found one yet. I start back in the gym on Monday hopefully pain free .... Hope this helps in some way.

i had been debating on HGH at low doses for a while to see if that helps. the back(tricep) side is worse if its going to be irritating. the accupressure/deep tissue is a serious help. honestly even back when i was seriously "in" the loop and up on tons of AAS info, i never read much about IGF. i guess i was scared of it and considered it only for serious hard-core guys. never knew prices, availability, sides, any of that. was i being ignorant? or is it worth some serious looking for a "mild" aas person?

I had tennis elbow pretty bad a few months ago in both forearms. I bought a tennis elbow brace from the store and it helped a little bit, but it still hurt like hell. Then I bought captains of crush, a forearm exerciser and just started using it every day. I don't have the tendonitis anymore. If you can get HGH I know that helps promote healing so I would suggest taking that. But the problem with tennis elbow and other types like that is that muscles are overpowering the tendons and you need to strengthen them.

I would suggest to try for 3 weeks not working out anything else put forearms and arms if you could with really low weight lots of reps. I tried it and it saved me from tons of pain. It actually hindered my bench a lot, I was at 365 before the tennis elbow started and next thing I know I was struggling with 315 due to the pain. I'm now at 395lbs and don't think I would've ever been able to do this without focusing doing that kind of training. It might save your workouts, it did for me.

I teach Judo and jiu-jitsu and have had tennis elbow a few times in my life. It suck, big time!!

Not too sure if anyone else mentioned this, (I didn't see it any where) but have you talked to your Dr. about cortisone shots? I have had them and they worked amazingly. However, they'll only a work a few times. After that they don't do s**t.

There are always pros and cons, but it's definatly worth talking to your Dr. about.

Good Luck,

from my own research and speaking to others, cortisone is out of the question for me. Besides the fact that it doesnt actually "heal" the problem. it masks it.

This is true, however the only thing that "heals" tendonitis is A:) Time or B:) surgery :)

I have had it serveral times.. It really hinders yourlifts.

Good Luck!

prolotherapy

I had it and my partner had it we discovered the cause was creatine.
It went away after a few week if discontinueing creatine, i know this isn't related just saying!

Zyg, I was actually researching and reading alot of your older posts about it. it sounds like an awsome idea. the science behind it totally makes sense too. I havnt been able to research if there is anything close to me here in upstate ny yet. but i plan on it tomorrow night. I have to imagine it must hurt like hell having an injection in your connective tissue? but if it works:D seems to be reasonable priced too as far as things like that go.
I think first, unless i find something close to me thats VERY reasonable, i'm going to try Cissus and all the methods i mentioned in the beginning of the post.
I am currently NOT lifting at all. again a year removed like i stated earlier. So obviously i would be starting with girlie weights as not to punish my tendons/ligaments.
I have been waiting to get over this lingering cold and waking up with a big ball of snot in my sinus and that tickle cough that makes you crazy before i throw weight training at my body.
Do you think if my Doc "recomended" prolo, that my insurance would cover it? if i was in "alot of pain all the time" . My doc is great like that and isnt afraid to aggressively treat.
EDIT: I just found a sports med. doc. in Bethlehem PA thats was closer than NYC.and much less of a hassle to drive to. around 2.5-2.75 hrs.indtead of 4-5hrs
