Tachycardia in the middle of the night...

Ejection Fraction is how efficient your heart is pumping. We take the diastolic dimension of the left ventricle (main pumping chamber) and the systolic dimension of the left ventricle. We then use a formula with these two dimensions and it gives us an percentage (ejection fraction). Basically, if you have wall damage or significant enlargement of the heart, then your EF will be lower. EF that are 55% or above are considered normal (normal range is gernerally 55-70). EF that are 46-54% are considered fair and EF that are 45% and below is CHF (congestive heart failure). IF you have an EF of 35%, then you heart is barely pumping out any blood and you get extremity edema, fluid in your lungs, and around your heart (which puts even more pressure on it). Now it is possible for someone to have a heart attack and the EF be at 30% (they can hardly move or exert themselves), and after sometime the heart start to repair the muscle and their EF goes back up. Most of the time, we use certain meds to help bring the EF up. Normal LV Diastolic dimensions would be around 3.7-5.6 cm; Systolic dimensions at 1.9-3.7. If you have a 5.5 cm dia. dimension and a 3.2 systolic, then your EF is high (normal). If you have a 5.5 cm dia. and a 4.2 systolic, then your EF is low (abnormal).

Hope this helps.

I have a mur mur and my heart beats are more noticeable after I drink alcohol. I had my mur mur check and the doc said nothing to worry about. So you are saying if I take two aspirin I won’t have this problem?

Geoff, my injection fraction is supposed to be in the mid 30's, the echo said 41%, but my doctor said that it is somewhere in the mid 30 range. I've read a lot concerning CHF and cardio myopathy, and from what I read I should be short of breath when I exercise, and have a very long recovery peroid between sets. I don't on leg day I sometimes workout with a bodybuilder that's a dozen years younger than me, I recover faster than he does between sets.

I was still walking around when my IF only measured 15%, but I was out of wind walking up a few steps. But now I feel as good as ever and I never get edema. When I was really sick my lungs kept filling with fluid.

Enteric coated aspirin...325mg/day.

That should alleviate the tachycardia.

It could also be psychological(in your head)

I use Nattokinase instead of Aspirin and its working wonders.

My heart elasticity/ability to pump out blood has increased markedly.

Geoff... what do you think about Fonz's idea?

Thanks to you both!

Just for the sake of those who may not know - diastolic/diastole is when the heart relaxes (the ventricles) and fill with blood. Systolic/systole is when the heart contracts and squirts the blood out to the body ( or the lungs in the case of the right ventricle).
