T3 - thyroid shutdown. any help?

stealth

New member
My doctor discovered that I was hypothyroid after a blood test and put me on T3. I have taken 75-100 mgs for over two monthes now and now I am quite sure my thyroid is dead to ths world ( more tests this week). Does anyone have any experience in restarting natural thyroid production or do I just bite the bullet and keep taking it forever?

Also, I am considering using DNP. Is this a serious problem while on T3?

Any intelligent advise would be appreciated.

I belive Mrs. Texas Guns had a thyroid problem. I think she is now a mod on the woman's board. PM her and ask for help.

Best Luck

If you're hypothyroid then you will remain hypothyroid most likely. Ity would be very reare for it to come back on it's own. If it's a direct problem with the thyroid gland then it is unlikely it will begin endogenous production once again. If it's a missing link in the signaling chain, though still unlikely, short term use of T3 or synthroid can "kick start" the thyroid. If you thryroid can't make it on its own you will have to take it in pill form the rest of your life. It's no biggie. You just have to remember to take your pills daily.

t3 shutdown

Olympian-

I was tested for thyroid deficiency last year and had no problem. Then, I tired t3 before I saw my new docotr and even though I was off for a few weeks he noted my low thyroid levels and diagnosed me hypothyroid. I suspect I was still recovering from the initial t3 useage at the time now. But, I'm more educated now than i was before.

So, I suspect I was ok at least before allthis. Is there any chance I could recover normal function and, if so, is there anything which helps restart natural function?

Well, that changes everything. You said nothing about your T3 use just prior to your blood test. Likely you're still recovering. You should have told your doctor. If you were still in recovery then your shouldn't have been put on supplemenal thyroid hormone as it will only prolong the shut down. Talk to him ASAP.

Like mentioned above, I would tell your Dr. what's going on asap. Discuss with him the possibility of slowly weaning yourself off the T-3, and give a little waititng period to see if you will go back to normal. I have heard that Gugglebolics and Thyro-lean are both good products to take after your t-3 supplementation. Good Luck.

Did the same thing to my self. Slowly reduce your dose over the next two weeks down to zero. Wait 3 months then have it tested again. You are going to recover some over three next month but probably not 100%. At that point you will probably need to go on synthroid for the rest of your life. The dosage depends on how much you recover. I take 75 mcg a day. You need to stay away from anything that effects the thyroid. There is nothing you can take to help. Stay away from ECA, NYC or Thyro-Lean. These supplements tend to hinder normal basal metabolism as well. Increase your calorie intake but east six times a day (good carbs veggie, fruit some protein not fat and complex carbs) to help with the weight problem. Get some good skin moisturizer because your skin will tend to dry out. Cardio will help some. I wish I had better news for you but I went through the same thing myself. T3 is a trap and anyone who tells you otherwise is a fuckin tool . You may get lucky and recover 100% but its not likely at that dosage for that length of time.
