Swimming sux and I sux at it even worse

Fuck, I still feel like I am drowing after a stinking lap. My hubby taught me to swim better, but I am still nowhere near where I would like to be.

I am jsut getting back to this as I want to do a triathlon in December. I swam 1200 meters today and need to about 2500 m swims.

What if you had an interactive pool bottom that would show you a new naked chic /dood if you did your lap in a certain time. Now that is incentive !!

The effect it has on my body is incentive enough. The fact that it is THE PERFECT mix of weight resistance and cardio with NO IMPACT...

Too bad more people dont realize the health benefits. But as I said, it is hard as a mofo. Probably why more peeps dont do it.
 
how long did it take u to build up to 1200m? im seriously considering investing in lessons because the most i can swim is like 150 m before my thighs cramp up to hell. i think there is something seriously lacking in my technique.

I could barely stay afloat until my hubby showed me how to swim properly. There was a HYUGE difference once I was swimming properly. But as I said before, I just haven't had the time as of late to get into the pool.

well it takes years to get your form right where you can do it without dying. Now I can start from scratch after being off a long time and do 1200 m.

When I started I could not do 100m without dying. I did my first triathlon with the breaststroke because I could not swim that far freestyle.

Definately get lessons. If you are a runner - it will take a while to loosen up your ankles to be able to kick properly. You will have to do a lot of kicking with fins on to get your joints loose enough to be effective.

it is the one sport out of the the three that I compete in that I really have to work at to even be able to compete...I stink at it....
