what was the humidity % there?

in the teens in the heat of the day
ahhh..."dry heat".

try it when the temp & humidity are both in the 90's. you can't wipe the sweat away quickly enough. when u walk out of your air conditioned house/office/car it's like getting slapped with a warm, wet body length wash cloth.

Good thing you dont live in Houston...
For weeks we had 100plus days just recently its been raining and cooling things off a bit...

110 at midnight is never gonna be pleasent, regardless of rh

i grew up in the south.. and lived in cali.. colorado if you need/want good weather is the place to go..

as for here in minnesota.. we have 2-3 weeks where you just don't go outside if you don't need/have to jan 15-30th usually.. just like in HotLanta you just don't do it..

difference is i can always put on another coal, but once you are naked, there's nothing but pain..

and the AC just doesn't cut it..

here when it gets to 54 degree, we go out in short pants and shirt sleeve..

Rnch. I lived in Palm Springs for a year and a half. I lived in S.C. most of my life and I can honestly tell ya 120 is 120.

Humidity definitely makes a big difference in the tolerability of heat. I was born and raised in Chihuahua Mexico until age 5, then to Phoenix AZ briefly. All very dry heat. 100 really didn't feel particularly uncomfortable. Then from age 5 to now (age 26) I've lived in Atlanta where the heat index of say 87 is like 98...or higher. When it hits 95 in Atlanta it's stifling outside. In the end though, the desert wins. AZ desert temps can easier stay above 120. Even on the rare occasions when it briefly hits 100 in Ga, it doesnt feel that hot.

The folks also have a Winter place in Steamboat Springs CO. Like someone else already said, that's the place. Snowy, but really pretty mild Winters, and wonderful Summers.

until you been in 90something humidity and 90 something heat temp you havent experienced the worst thing ever. rnch got it right when he said its like getting slapped with a hot/wet washcloth all over your body

houston is one of the few places in the USA I have seen that has swampier land than new orleans AND bigger cock roaches.

humidity takes your life

the one thing i did NOT begrudge spending Big Bucks on when renovating my current home was high efficiency central air conditioning and insulation.

gotta have it.

even with low humidities the heat takes my life

the mojave desert always has the daily highs
mojave peeps go to NO for the summer to get outta the heat and enjoy some comparatively cool weather, true story
