There's definitely a handful who could, but I'll concede the majority would struggle. Organic Chemistry has become a good measuring stick for medical school. Thanks to all the analytical chemistry tools available now, it's become a pretty stringent combination of memorization and conceptual understanding -- hence it's a great proxy for medical education.
Out of sheer coincidence, I find myself in O-chem part II as we speak! I took it at Vanderbilt back in 1986 (yeah, I'm old). But my GF needs that class for her Microbiology major and my best friend needs the course for medical school. He played football for UT (Tennessee) and briefly for the Kansas City Chiefs but now he's back in school trying to graduate and go to medical school. So I told them both I'd take the class with them so we could spread the misery (I actually absolutely love it). We just took the second semester test #2 last week and get our papers back tomorrow .
