Strained my Neck doing Incline Presses?

HANSEL

New member
Has anyone ever dealt with this?
I had my shoulder blades back, so my shoulders would not move forward and doing the first incline notch on the bench (not very vertical). When I was lifting pretty intesly, I must have had my neck in a wierd position, sort of back/head looking up at the bar and Bam, Sudden Neck Strain thats been killing me.
Any advice? Think this will last long? It really ruined the rest of my workout.

Regards.

I've done this before doing flats. I think what I (and you) had done is, you probably pressed your head back into the bench while moving the weight up. Mine didn't last long. Maybe 3 or 4 days at the most. Take some ibuprofen and rest up. Should be gone in no time.

Cool, Thanks for the prompt Response man.
Im all over the IB now and hopefully it doesnt last too long. Injuries really bum me out.

Stiff necks can pop up doing just about any excercise. They suck while they last, but fortunately they always go away on their own.

neck strain

ya i've gotten the same prob, before and just did it last chest workout, not sure of the reason cause sorta like you i had my whole body in proper positoin and everyhting done in proper form.
i've found that ever since i've been pinning my post delts to the bench to keep my shoulders outta the movement my post delts get a bit sore after and im sure it could sorta put a bit of a pull on your neck..maybe

ive done my neck muscle(upper trapezius) doing deadlifts and shrugs before.
It was a pretty bad strain and i made the mistake of not resting it enough so it has spasms for 2 days after the initial strain. I went to a physio but you dont have to if you just rest it by lying down on a flat bed or floor with neck straight as possible and a rolled up towel underneath the neck arch. Also anti inflam gels and tablets can help to reduce swelling and the pain!!!

Neck strains are a bitch for about 4-5 days but they go away eventually. This injury put me out of any action for about a week.
