Still taking the week off

Hey everyone! Due to hurting my lower back on an attempted 600lb Beast Lift (deadlift with the bar behind the legs) Im taking this week off. I hate this shit!! haha I never take this kind of time off. Surprisingly I havent shrunk! Thought I would. haha Just trying to eat as much as possible. Ive been hitting about 120-180 grams of protein I estimate, eating UNCLEAN foods for the most part, as usual. Not as much protein as I once ate, but my BW has been 188-190+ depending on how much Ive eaten. TV dinners, chocolate milk, italian buffets haha. Hate missing days in the gym though! Hopefully I wont come back weaker on my chest day. This definately adds and extra obstacle to my 405 bench goal for this month. My lowerback is feeling better but dont want to take a chance, since theres still some pain. Maybe sunday Ill hit some hammer strength presses to maintain my chest strength. My chest loses strength real fast. I plan to skip deadlifts on monday also and maybe just do cable work for back.The time off seems like it could be beneficial though, since my right arm was feeling real sore during curls. Anyone ever come back weaker after taking a week off? ThanX!
 
that sucks bro, but remember layoffs for up to 2 weeks can actually make you stronger! just eat lots and eat clean lol no more tv dinners :)

I used the hammer stuff when I fucked my back in april, its great for rehabbing

haha ThanX bro!! But if I start eating clean Ill be down 20lbs!! haha I just dont seem to grow off of clean foods. ThanX again!
 
You will probably come back even stronger bro. As long as your not always taking weeks off, and i know you don't so ;). Take the week off to your advantage bro, and come back and intimidate those plates even more!
 
man, be careful with the back. trust me, i know. i've got problems with mine.

speaking of a week off.....i'm on a week off now. finals start monday and i simply do not have time to hit the gym this week. then i have a doc appointment thursday in which i might get a steroid injection into my spine. if that happens, i might be taking a FEW weeks off, not just one...and that's my biggest fear right now. 3 months of gains could be in the shitter if i get that shot......
 
or if you get the steroid injection you could go lift every muscle group, and use the steroid to your advantage:D

do some light reverse hypers,
everyday.
and increase your potein intake if possible to > 180 gms

the pain from the injection is horrible, i've had one before. i was given verced before the procedure, and i still saw a flash of white light and felt intense pain when they pushed the fluid into my spine. then, it's 3 days of double (or more than) your normal pain after the injection, and believe me, my back can really hurt like hell some days. after 3 days it's supposed to taper off, then after 10 days you're supposed to be feeling better than before. unfortunately......

i had this shot done last febuary. i think they screwed it up. the clinic i went to treated me like shit afterwards too. they blew me off when i'd call complaining that the procedure went wrong and that the pain was just intolerable. it was a month before my pain died down to a level that i was fully functional, and i still hurt more than i did before the injection.

needless to say, i'm actually scared about what's gonna happen this thursday. different doc, different clinic, and i'm going in to be assessed. if another injection is a good idea and i agree, then we'll go foreward with it and do it that day. considering what happened last time, i think the doc is going to say no to doing the procedure, and i've pretty much made up my mind that i'm not getting it done. however, i have to make some sort of effort or else i'm not going to get any more help from my regular doctors if i blow off this procedure and refuse it. i'm just f'ed every which way i turn.


i'm hoping i can convince them to just give me a cycle of an oral steroid, as the only way i'd ever do that would be by perscription anyway. that'd kick some serious ass, and yes, i'd take FULL advantage of it. :D with an oral, i'd be facing less risks and less pain than last time, and it's quite possible that they would want to opt for an oral steroid anyway.

what's my point? TAKE CARE OF YOUR BACKS! this wasn't even a lifting injury or a case where i just abused my back for years and something just went out one day. but please, every one of you, be careful. i don't wish this on anyone.

WB - i'd recommend seeing a doctor if you havn't already. my troubles were diagnosed as a muscle strain for over a year before i was finally sent for MRIs and discovered 2 herniated discs. don't do like i did and say "nah, i'm a man, it doesn't hurt that bad, i can handle it. i don't need to see a doctor." it only got worse over time. hope it's nothing serious and you recover fast. good luck!

That because your probably not eating enough. Clean food has a lot less calories so you need to eat a whole shitload to get the required calories. Junk food has a lot of calories so you don't have to eat a lot to get the calories but most of them are useless.

Hey Crew! You may be right. I was averaging 250-300+ grams of protein for a long time at one point eating chicken breasts and baked potatoes and was extremely full, almost to the point of vomitting, if Id have to eat more clean foods, Id rather force down the junk. haha Ive grown off of it so far. ThanX!

ThanX Tiervexx! Today's workout went well, aside from pulling out my upper back on one side. haha. Will have to see how it feels, may have to take off til thursday. ThanX again!
