Starting an Adult Entertainment business

I'm kind of seeing a girl who works in the adult film business. Even as a model/actress she makes more than most doctors, although from what she's told me the real money is in production/distribution (which she's also involved in). Zoning laws, licenses (if required in your area), and permits are the big ones to concern yourself with. And of course, like any other business you've got to worry about production, overhead, legal costs, marketing, etc, etc.

One thing she mentioned is that people involved in the sex industry tend to be more problematic to deal with than in other professions. So choose your employees carefully.

So she's had a reasonable amount of success... you should ask her what she thinks of the whole escort service/prostit. idea.

It's hard to see it on a balance sheet, but there is a very big cost to you in how it will degrade your soul and suck the life out of you as you come to value what should be an expression of your highest value - sexuality - as something cheap to be exchanged like alcohol for money.

I kinda get where you're coming from. But...
Sex sells. It will always sell. It is recession-proof.

This isnt something I want to do long-term. It'd be something to do for 1-3 years in my area, however. It provides a potential chance for a large amount of money to be paid to you in cash.

Turnover could be a problem, but you just keep a girl or two around strictly for recruiting other girls.mm../I'm doing my research right now, reading books about the sex industry and brothels, etc. Last thing I want out of this if I do it is legal drama.

I've thought about doing this, too. Gay, straight, it don't matter to me. It's all about the money. And that means: no drugs, no drinking, no sex for me...just money, money, money. I have no juvenile illusions about gettin it on with any of the ladies that would work for me. I'll admit, I have zero experience in this field. But something tells me you'd hardly ever see the ladies that work for you. Except at Christmas time for the little get together I'd throw in the lounge at the nearest Hilton Inn. LOL..if I just saw my employees once a year, that'd be good enough for me.

If I ever did it, I'd do it in a big city like New York or L.A. They're the type of cities where the high-end girls make $1-5,000 a night. That's the only way I'd do it, with high-end ladies.

As far as a gay service is concerned: Forget about it. Theres no market for it. Gay guys can simply go to a public rest-room in a park to get laid. If you are a gay dude and you can't get laid, well then you must look like the elephant man with a penis the size of a mosquito. Gay escorts generally work alone, and they don't have the same safety issues as the ladies do.

I have no experience in this field, but if someone were to offer me guidance, mentoring, or tutoring on how to start an escort service up in a big city, I would jump at it. That would be serendepitous. There are no good books on the subject, so if you're lookin to get into this business and you have someone to consult, someone whose been doing it for a long time and turns a good profit, count yourself lucky. While ownership in a business like this is risky, I'd first consult a good lawyer to ask him about all the "what ifs."

Like the one dude said, sex is always in demand. Keep that in mind because there are some people alot smarter than me who say that we have a recession coming.

You don't need experience. All you need is women who can be on call. That's it. Without women you have no business.

After that -- the standard rules of business: marketing, advertising, logistics, competition, billing, etc. etc. apply.

I'm gonna go to a lawyer, a defense attorney, and ask him this: "What are the chances of an escort business owner going to jail?" If they tell me "slim and none," well then I'll have alot more questions for him. They will be the type of questions that when answered, will help me to stay firmly entrenched in that slim and none category.

If he instead answers: "Theres a very good chance of you going to jail." I'll pay him, say goodbye, and leave.

Really, I haven't yet made up my mind about going to see an attorney. It really all hinges on how serious I am about this thing. Right now, without elaborating, things are getting just a tad serious. I might know by the end of this week if I'll be venturing forth with this thing. You know, theres a part of me that might breathe a sigh of relief if none of this ever comes to fruition.

You made some very good points in your post, and I appreciate that. However, the issue of working within the confines of the law, and staying out of jail is paramount, and above all others. Rock on...
