Starting an Adult Entertainment business

Seriously... LOL... a chic that owns I LOVE ANAL.COM

NICE!

So me and my friends were gonna start an adult website.... we know hella chics that would have been down.

I had contractors bidding on building out rooms for studio use in my basement and everything. We were all big into the local party seen so the chics were endless... we just had to keep them supplied.

We backed out on everything for a few reasons:

1. Issues with filming pornography where I lived. Regardless of the outcome of any potential legal battles - it may have resulted in a long expesive fight that could have drug our business under.

2. Credibility, Reputation. If the business had failed - and even if it had not - our names could have gotten drug through the mud in a bad way.

Although I like porn... the business is seedy and some peeps just don't like it... and would in turn have personal issues with us.

I know a couple of guys who take road trips, pick up girls and film them. You never see them again and it costs you nothing more than any night partying would.

There are ways around this. You could advertise the same place where the escorts advertise. They'll see your ads and so will potential clients. You could also buy adult internet traffic once you're up and running.

The place they advertise is the personal section in the newspaper, its full of them 7 days a week. But the newspaper will not list websites so you cannot list with the escorts. The only way around this, that we could work out, was to set up a hotline that directs you to your website, but its hardly ideal.

I dont think internet marketing is going to have the sort of effect here as for you guys in the states, we are dealing with a small market compared to you guys and most of the traffic we would be pulling in would be from the states.

One option that we were looking into, which you guys might be interested in, was doing a more adult entertainment site, more like your mens magazines with a local flavour, and have the ecourts as part of this, make it a little more main stream looking and more legitamate.

Don't have experience to share in some of those industries, but two that I can shed some light on...

XXX Page - As everyone knows, this is a deeply penetrated market with low barriers to entry; only inviting just about anyone to add to the competitive marketplace with pocket change. However, I do have a friend who has found a niche. he has focused on local girls from the city we live in. He has placed a priority on re-investing his dollars into a solid marketing effort and has focused on pr. Events are held monthly at popular clubs and bars and feature the girls in person. The events are usually large enough to attract some sort of media attention and are always heavily promoted. His concept has flourished and he has moved this model to new markets...

Strip Clubs - BYOB fully-nude strip clubs are a great business model. No licensing fees (aside from cabaret licenses in some cities), and signifigantly less overhead than a bar. Also, we are focusing on strictly quantities here. Money is being made at the door with a signifigant cover fee. Proper marketing initatives could make it worhtwhile in locales that don't feature many of these venues...
