What does all these places have in common???
They were damaged by Hurricane Katrina and they still look like they need years of work

It's a shame

Just got back from a trip to the Big Easy

Infact some of the houses in the 9th ward still have "9/6" , "9/7" 9/8" , "9/9"... spray painted on the houses from where the feds / locals searched the house

This is also all over Gentilly as well.

All the Robért Fresh Market Location in New Orleans seem to be out of business. This really sucks as they had some Farmer's Market spices that I used to buy from them instead of going to the quarter.

Also the farmers market is no longer in the quarter.

And probably the most noticable destruction of New Orleans culture...

There is a food store on Broad street 2 blocks North of the police station on Tulane that actually puts barbeque sauce on BBQ shrimp!!!!

Alot of NO culture got washed away in Katrina

That is sad. I've never been to NO but always wanted to visit. Guess it will be quite some time before I make that trip.

Seems Americans always gets behind a cause and then when they have given a little we tend to move on to more current events while the problems still exist.

I guess we should be known as the band-aid society.

It's not worth it now unless you wanna go to Harras or Treasure Chest (the casinos) Of course they weren't out of business long

The best food was in the "hole in the wall" places and most of them are still not there

Vasquez is a perfect example of a hole in the wall that was right by University Of New Orleans (on Franklin Ave) that looks like it was looted and is still not open 1 year and 2 months after Katrina

Camilla Grill which was probably the number 1 uptown eating spot in NO also seems to be closed. I passed by and it's a huge house on St Charles and it was closed as I drove by but did not investigate further
