break what news exactly? That you found him dead?

That's very tough. Sorry for the parents. I can't imagine having to be the one to: find the child and have to tell the parents.

kids are slippery little bastards.
kid died less than 50 yards from his campsite and we looked for him for hours.

It's situations like ^^this that make me feel like our situation is not THAT bad, because comparatively speaking... it isn't.

So sorry for everyone involved.

Interesting that you should have made a mental note of the boy's "character" shoes... the brain just compartmentalizes the oddest details. Prolly helped you not to look at the child's face or hands, I'm thinkin.

Three years old on a family vacation, so tragic.

I see what you are saying but that doesn't mean that the parents were negligent.

Lotta bad things happen to really good peeps. I also know of more than one cleaver family that has a WHOLE LOTTA FILTHY DIRTY DISGUSTINGLY INHUMANE laundry.

I remember when my girls were little the reason I would dress them in identical swimsuits was so that I could always immediately pick them out in the crowd on the beach. There could be millions of kids but I could see mine INSTANTLY. When I wasn't down at the water with them or my ex I sat in my little cabana doing nothing but watching right there the whole time. But it would have only taken ONE SECOND and any of my children could have been gone goodness knows where.

So sad... I needa stay off this thread.

Does your job provide counseling for you guys for these cases? I am assuming that this was your first time but sadly won't be your last.

first time with a bro this young.
and yeah we have a stress debriefing and a BBQ today to sort this mess out.
i got a strong consititution, and it's not my kid, so i'm really not that affected.
dead is calm, moridly peaceful...it's when i come across someone mangled and still alive, that's when i fugs me up

I understand as much as someone like me can (I've only seen like maybe 2/3 bodies at viewings so I don't really know what it's like and I don't want to).

Did you ever think even one year ago/2 years ago that you could be something SO IMPORTANT with your life?

I'm proud of you.

wow. . .that sucks. . .you're a better man than me, that shit would wreck me for a really long time. . .

seeing kids messed up (or dedad) is the toughest. I have seen many an adult dead/mangled/dying/shot/stabbed/ -pretty much whatever you can imagine - and it's easier to see 10,000 of those than one child in a similar situation.

Sorry you had to be the one to find him and tell the father bino. Most of all I'm sorry for that little boy and his family. I can't imagine being in that father's shoes, and I hope I never have to.

Dang dude, that is a tough spot to be in. Takes an extremely strong willed human being to be able to go through that and walk away not being a huge emotional mess. (personally I would be on the floor unable to tell the parents to begin with).

Very sad indeed. Sucks that kids are unpredictable and can disappear in a blink of an eye.

Sorry, bro.
Did you hear about Sam and Lindsey Porter? Yea, I helped look for those kids 2 summers straight and the in-between time.
Didn't end well, either.
Just remember, someone's gotta do it.
Keep ur head up.
There will prolly be more..

damn. that's terrible. even for you (obviously it's beyond horrible for the parents).
i'm sorry bino.

Natural selection is a bitch...I can name at least three occasions where I should likely have died as a young child and not to mention the shit I did as an adult. One was was falling 20ft off a rock I climbed when I was seven and landed on another rock..I landed flat and escaped with cuts and bruises.

That's horrible. Every year they just about spam the news and radio stations warning people to keep their kids away from the streams because of the runoff and every year there are stories of a little one that got away and drowned. I can't imagine being in that dad's shoes. The little fuckers can get away so fast if you're looking away for less than a minute.
