Ann (mass 50 kg) is standing at the left end of a 15-m-long, 500 kg cart that has frictionless wheels and rolls on a frictionless track. Initially both Ann and the cart are at rest. Suddenly, Ann starts running along the cart at a speed of 5 m/s relative to the cart.

How far will Ann have run relative to the ground when she reaches the right end of the cart?

Diagram the equation. Ann's Mass, once in motion is going to propel the cart in the opposite direction of her motion since it is on a frictionless surface. the cart's mass is going to prevent it from moving in the opposite direction in a ratio to Ann's Mass. At the end you'll subtract the cart's motion in the opposite direction from Ann's total movement.

how do i do cross product for angular momentum?

A 1.40 -long massless rod is pivoted at one end and swings around in a circle on a frictionless table. A block with a hole through the center can slide in and out along the rod. Initially, a small piece of wax holds the block .2m from the pivot. The block is spun at 30.0rpm , then the temperature of the rod is slowly increased. When the wax melts, the block slides out to the end of the rod. What is the final angular velocity?

L=R x P

Find your initial angular velocity from the frequency of rotation to find the blocks initial tangential velocity when the wax melts. From there you should be able to get time and centripetal velocity of the block which will allow you to find Angular acceleration and final angular velocity.

i need to set L=r cross p

i just dont know how to cross R and P,

small penii
The plural of 'penis' is 'penes', although the Anglicized 'penises' is considered acceptable. 'Penii' is right out.

To get a cross product of two vectors A, B:
AxB = |A||B| sin(ab)

The resulting value is the magnitude of a vector perpendicular to each of A and B in the direction of sight from looking down on A and B with A to the left of B.

Yeah, that is a cross product, but the answer is in the same plane as all the motion is occurring, so he shouldn't need to cross anything.
