Coconut Crab... Survives on a diet of mainly Coconuts, Figs and other fruit... Its suppose to taste amazing.

I looked on Google to see where you can purchase them: coconut crab Manufacturer, Buyer, Supplier, Importer, Exporter, Manufacturers, Buyers, Suppliers, Importers & Exporters - ECPlaza

I did run into this too, tons of pics, AND they can crack a coconut with their claws!

I definitely want to try this someday also, but I thnk the only way is while you are actually on an island in the indian ocean or south pacific. I think I read somewhere that it's illegal to import them? Or there are strong restrictions...

They live something like 40 years...Many areas do protect them, but on some islands they are plentiful. In any case I am almost 100% positive nowhere actually exports them.

They have a tail like appendage that swells with the excess oils and sugars from the coconuts and fruit. its is like their energy storage. They are suppose to be the best tasting crab on earth.
