Some thoughts on anti-war opinions.

Osama is a millionaire that has support from other millionaire fundamentalists. Iraq is a secular nation who is ANTI-fundamentalist. And as you know, only fundamentalists are terrorists.

How slow are you, Johnny?

Yeah, you are right. Saddam gassed his own people. Launched missles into Israel, and would gas our troops. What was i thinking, he is a moral guy.

Do you consider the so called palestinians Fundamentalists?

He gased his own people with the gas the AMERICA gave him to use against Iran. He was put into power by the UK and the US.

People who tie a bomb to themselves are fundamentalists.

It is unfortunate that we live in a world that is filled with warfare and violence. A common phrase being passed around lately is that we must "fight for peace." Is it logical to claim that violence and killing is taking a stand for peace? Can war really bring about lasting peace? History would indicate that it can't.
oh yes, it can. if you do not fight evil, it will rule you. every attempt to calm down a ruthless dictator did fail. Today, 8 European nations (Spain, Italy, Poland, Czech Republic, UK, ...) issued a declaration supporting President Bush to go to war with Iraq. Some obviously have learned from our past. When western leaders tried to appease Hitler by giving him ever more land he still wanted more. Only the allied military force could bring nazi-Germany down and gave us 50+ years of peace.
But some Europeans did not learn from history. They tried to negotiate with Milosevic and Karadic and were laughed at. It was up to the Americans again to step in and stop the killing in Bosnia and the Kosovo. Today, there is some kind of normal life there again.
Now with the Iraq issue, i doubt that anyone here really knows whats going on there. That 90+% of the Iraqis are suffering is no indication that their military could not build weapons of mass destruction. North Coreans do suffer even more, yet they have nukes. In the end, it comes down to trust and when i compare dictator Hussein to president Bush, prime minister Blair or chancellor Berlusconi, the western leaders win hands down.

Besides the fact that Iraq poses zero threat to the US, war against Iraq will cause a chain-reaction of events that will leave the US in shambles.

The attack will cause more disdain for the US (from all over the world) and therefore more attacks on US soil.

That will lead to a police state where freedoms will be a thing of the past.

You people with no foresight do not realize that one more attack will allow police to come into your home, your car and your life without any evidence. That is something that will be done in the name of fighting terrorism.

Do you think that you Internet discussions about gear, bud and other illegal substances will be allowed (without repercussion) in a post-Iraq America. No way, all email and Internet activity will be logged and watched and you will get a knock on the door whenever you do something that is "suspicious."

It is more than not wanting war. It is about preserving freedoms that Americans were once known for.

While you and I disagree with the concepts of politics often, I actually agree with you on this topic. I don't have that much against attacking Iraq, since it is an evil regime and therefore it's removal is always better than it's existence, but I do understand that there are many reasons for this war that are not for "moral" principles.

I do not fear Bin Laden nor Saddam, even with them retaining power. It is very easy to rally the nation against an enemy that uses force against us. I fear my government who makes us slaves under the guise of security and protection.

It actually is. It has been scienticifcally proven that learning new languages forces you to use more of your brain.

That is ridiculous. This is probably based on the false belief that people only use 10% of their brains, which is untrue.

My office manager knows three or four languages and she can barely function without group therapy.

Most European's know 3-4 languages, so what.

2Thick, I like you- your a cool guy and I dont want to get into an arguing match but I have to say I completely disagree with you on this one. How and the fuck can you think Iraq is not a threat? Come back to earth friend!

All of you who believe this drivel will have your eyes opened real quick when evidence comes out that Sadaam is months away from a nuke. Then how stupid will you look? Sadaam is a rich rich man, he HAS a delivery system as well as just about everything else he needs for a nuke. He just needs a little more uranium, which as evidenced by the bust in Turkey is not far off. As I have stated before- my close friend was a delta op during the first Gulf War and was specifically sent to Iraq before the war started to do some recon and see if assasination was possible. Of course it was not but they learned allot about what Sadaam was capable of. He has told me many stories of things he has seen and heard and I can tell you this, Sadaam is sure as fuck a danger to us, to Israel and many other countries. You have to be fucking blind not to see this. Put aside your hate for Bush for a minute and realize that sometimes the military knows what they are doing. Our country will not become a marshal state after the war, that is absurd. Unless you pussy ass liberals want to wear a flack jacket when you leave the house then you should support the war. We gave them weapons, so what- it makes no differance now. Should we all just sit on our hands and pray that no terroists blow us up? Yeah that will do allot. When someone is trying to stab you what do you do? Reason with him? Harsh language? No, you fucking pull out a gun and shoot the bastard! So, when a dictator repeatedly laughs at sanctions, is KNOWN to have WMD and who treats his own people in such a horrible manner the ONLY choice is to remove him from power.
Get a clue people!

Just because some in the U.S. might have made mistakes in the past, doesn't mean we shouldn't defend ourselves now. As a country bumpkin, if I trusted a guy a few farms away with one of my shot guns to defend himself, and years later he wanted to kill me with the shotgun would I say, well heck, I'll let him kill me and my family cuz after all I wuz the one who gave him the shot gun? No, I would defend myself.

The U.S. is not starting the war. Iraq started the war by helping the Al Quaeda on 9/11.

Would you let an insane person who had a history of killing and torture have a machine gun? Of course not. Suddam is even more evil than the Soviets were, in my opinion, plus I don't believe the Soviets were insane. Also, the Soviets never had anything to do with an attack on our country 911 (and probably anthrax).

Just one more horror story from Iraq.

Suddam made a whole town, men, women and children witness an execution (they were beheaded with a sword)
of 15 women; some prostitutes, some political prisoners. Do we want such an evil, insane person with WMD? No.

Suddam's son said that if the U.S. attacked Iraq, they would retaliate with nerve gas. But wait a minute.......I thought Iraq didn't have WMD. Could they by any chance be lying?????????

Mark my words, all you liberals will be eating your words in a week or so. Watch as the evidence comes out. There has been unranium moving from Africa into Iraq and that my friend is more than enough to go to war. Iraq is very close to a nuke and those of you who think he doesn't "have the means" to fire it at us are simply delusional.

I agree completely. The power for them to do this is already established into law.
The USA is looking a whole lot like the way it did in the 70's under Nixon, when the CIA and FBI were compiling secret dossiers on American citizens. [/B]

They have been compiling dossiers on interesting people for ages.
I think it is perverted myself. Where do you think those news publications get some of their inside information from? Why do photographers always know where a celebrity will be?

Great post.

I hate it when people say "Oh, the UN inspectors havent had time to do their job since they werent there the past few years..."

Well, why the hell do you think Saddam expelled them from Iraq in the first place? You can damn well bet your left nut that it wasnt because the inspectors had bad manners. Someone as smart as Saddam used that time to relocate and disguise all of his illegal activities knowing full well that sooner or later the UN would be allowed back into the country.

This pretty much sums it up for me: Bill O'Reilly talking the other night about the state of the union:

"Hi, I'm Bill O'Reilly._ Thank you for watching us.

Tonight, a tale of two Americas._ That is the subject of this evening's Talking Points Memo ._

Here's some No Spin data for you: _According to a CBS [News] snap_poll, 67 percent of Americans believe President Bush has made a convincing case against Saddam Hussein._ That's up 20 points and reflects the success of the State of the Union address._

There's no question the president's speech persuaded millions of Americans that military action is now justified in removing Saddam._

Just 30 percent of the American public remains unconvinced, the same number that objected to President Nixon's resignation._ Of course, the 30 percent that loved Nixon is different than the 30 percent that dislikes Bush._ In fact, they are polar opposites._

What we have in this country are committed "wind-chime liberals" and equally committed "might is right" conservatives._ Those groups will never examine issues based on the facts._ They will always vote their ideology._

But the majority of Americans can be persuaded by logical arguments, and that's what President Bush did last night._ He was very logical._

In 1998, Saddam Hussein had various weapons of destruction._ In 2003, he won't say what happened to those weapons._ That's it, that's the logic._ So Mr. Bush connects the dots and believes we can't let this vicious dictator remain in power if he may have anthrax, smallpox, and other almost impossible to trace weapons._

The primary obligation of all Americans is to protect their families, and I don't want Saddam Hussein to hand a suitcase full of anthrax to some terrorist, which is entirely possible, since he will not account for the anthrax he once had._

So if President Bush is going to remove Saddam Hussein from power, I'm going to support that because I have an obligation to protect my family._ I think most Americans see it that way._ They reject the argument of no smoking gun because the argument of Iraqi danger is more threatening._ It's simple as that._

Now, what are we to think of those Americans who want Saddam to remain in power if nations like France don't agree with Mr. Bush?_ It is foolish to believe that a few hundred weapons inspectors can control the flow of anthrax._ That's impossible._

So, I believe that politicians who do not support the war against Saddam will lose credibility in the months to come._ And you know who agrees with me?_ Our pal, Hillary Clinton._

She couldn't get out of the State of the Union address fast enough last night._ You, we, won't see any Hillary tape doubting Mr. Bush, no way._ Mrs. Clinton is as calculating as they get._ She knows most Americans now support the president._ She knows Saddam is history in a few weeks and above all else, she wants to be on the right side of history for her presidential run in 2008._

As for John Kerry, the Saddam situation will hurt him._ Senator Lieberman wants Saddam removed and Senator Edwards was sprinting for cover alongside Hillary._

Mr. Bush won big last night._ And that's The Memo ._
