thanks aphids..the destruction was total...house needs to be gutted to its framing according to both a major fire restoration company we consulted and the insurance company..
I have more pictures but my blackberry finally died and for some reason the files didnt transfer to my new phone

yeah..its been weird to realize different things almost daily that we can't replace
Greg had a blanket from iraq that I have no idea how to replace or even its value...plus it was literally his security blanket in iraq so that makes me really sad
the insurance company still continues to be excellent though and I think we've chosen a contractor to get the rehab on the house going
both the insurance company and the contractor are willing to start before the month (march) is out

Again, I really am with you on that. I wish you the best possible resolution on all the issues. It looks just like my house did.
Here's mine... It still gives me a stomach rock to go through the pictures; 23 years later. The before & after pic is my bedroom. It got just about the worst of it, besides the kitchen where the fire started. In the front view of the house, the kitchen is downstairs left window, and my bedroom is above that.

yeah charles, I'll never look at house fires the same way again
and it was a very pretty house
the pictures with actual flames are from a photojournalist...theres like 9 different local newspaper articles ..so theres a lot of pictures
I was actually sitting in my neighbors house by the time the fire department got there watching it from their picture window that faces my house
actual floor plan will be more or less the same with some remodeling changes and Im looking into residential sprinklers along with heat sensors
insurance company should have their initial estimate for damages to the house itself done by the end of the week and a check issued by next week
we just fired the mitigation company they initially called for lying to us and the insurance company on work performed vs work billed

THAT sux as badly as a Los Angeles paramedic stealing $300 from my friend's wallet while he was bleeding after an accident (caught/prosecuted and fired, thank Goodness). Kicking somebody when they're down is subhuman.
