Solar eclipse of 2008 August 1The solar eclipse that takes place on August 1, 2008 will be a total eclipse of the Sun with a magnitude of 1.039 that will be visible from a narrow corridor through northern Canada (Nunavut), Greenland, Siberia, Mongolia, and China. The centre of the path will cross the northern island of Novaya Zemlya and the city of Novosibirsk. A partial eclipse will be seen from the much broader path of the Moon's penumbra, including western North America and most of Europe and Asia.
