Unfortunately, you are right. It didn't hit me until 2 years ago when I was called something I can't bear to type in a bar in Maryland (outside of the beltway (Washington, D.C.)). I've always lived in major cities (racisim is hidden better), so this was new to me.

That is what I was getting at with regard to my comment about posting in this forum. I'm absolutely dumbfounded by the amount of ignorance that is posted. Why I continue to post here, is beyond me. If it wasn't for the friendships I have made and wonderful fitness info, I would be gone.

My lord people, take a World History or U.S. History course. Read a book or something. Talk to people that do not look or sound like you.

There's something to be said for humility, I always got sick of some nineteen year old kid in university that takes a class and knows it all, hops on the web and posts his "new" theories, things that have been used as an educated person for propaganda and denigration by many groups as history is littered with examples. First you label them as a group, then you assign a traits, you generalize them, it works especially well with people with large noses, say the jews and their facial features, or someone with a different color skin. Or mongoloid russian facial features. Its happened throughout history, to take an intellectual approach to say that every black man has a large penis b/c in porn movies they were exposed to, black guys have a big dick, but if you were a psychologist and had to see a black patient with a small penis, how would you comfort them and discuss with them, on a professional level that having a small penis is not the end of the world. Its a nearridiculous example, but it does happen. Its BECAUSE BECAUSE racism ONLY works on the MACRO level, it only works when you DONT know the person. On the MICRO level, you'll see that the color of a person's skin does NOT make one bit a difference!!!
They are either a good person,,,,or a bad person. I have met as a percentage of friends, that more often they have been blacks, not whites as my best friends for the majority of my life, not b/c of their skin color, but b/c on a MICRO level, the good fun friendly people, just tended to have that complexion. No more, no less to the argument. And they were ALOT smarter than the idiots that sometimes post here

Everyone is a racist / generalist. It's a belief that works for me. Everyone tries to find similarities between some groups or believes in the stereotypes that people create for themselves. Why spend the time to learn about every individual when you can generalize?
