The new Nissan 350Z is a good looking car. The exterior. The interior. Very nice.
the engine isn't as powerful as the concept claimed it would be - but that is pretty much always the case.

but hello! the thing looks so much like the TT. the outside is really close, and the interior is pretty much exact.

the man that led the design for the TT also led the design for the beetle. he was at vw/audi/porsche for a bit, and is now at diamler/chrysler - but not at Nissan.

so I would imagine without the intellectual property rights of the designer on their staff, they are likely going to have to explain themselves at some point once the sales take off.

they say imitation is the most sincere flattery - but I would guess that flattery doesn't mean shit when there are millions on the line.
the last thing Audi wants is to be associated with Nissan, a dying company that needs this new car to save its life.
(the new body styles of their cars have increased sales and are pretty impressive, so hopefully that will keep them afloat)

From what I have read the Nissan is under powered and over priced. It does look a lot like the Audi. If Nissan is looking for this to save them, they are in deep trouble.

there are various trim levels, but I think it is around 260-270HP out of a 3.5 v6.
I'm not sure of the weight of the car - and it runs from just under $30K to $38 or so, again, depending on trim.

whether it saves them or not, they likely won't disappear, it is probably more just a matter of whether or not they get bought out by someone else and absorbed. although last I heard they have been trying to get this to happen for a few years now.

don't know - I'm not exactly in the loop :)

Shit, they're in trouble?
Damn, I love my Pathfinder. It has been 100% trouble free.
Nissan makes quality vehicles, I would definitely buy another one.

Just checked out some pics... NICE RIDE!!!
Does look like a TT tho.

Yes, they have been in trouble for several years, although the recently redesigned Altima seems to have brought them back from the brink. But for Nissan to rely on a Z to bring them completely out of the dark might be a mistake.

It just doesn't have the same umph that the 300 had.

I make no decisions about a car until I see what it looks like in wrecks.
I used to have no respect at all for the Z3 until I saw a few post wreck.

pretty cars usually don't wreck well.

Looks like a nice alternative to the TT. Strong ass engine! I wonder how it translates to quartermile and 0-60 time.

For the money, it's really not bad at all. What's everyone complaining about? The performance is sick! Nissan is crankin out some impressive performance engines, lately. The Pathfinder, Sentra, Altima, and Maxima have powerful engines and all naturally aspirated. I hope they make some money because these are some purists cars.

The Z may look like the Audi but it's a very impressive car, in itself. Bravo.

The 350Z and the Infiniti G35 have engines that are pretty nice straight from the factory.

the Sentra, Altima, and Maxima all have shitty air intakes - so if you are willing to mod those, then you can get a lot more power out of it (the only reason I can think of them not making the air intakes better would be noise - they are sedans and they likely want them as quiet as possible).

I don't know much about trucks, and especially not the Nissans - although I've heard that the XTerra is supercharged.
