So this guy at work get his arm cut off....

blueta2

New member
two night ago on one of the machines. Takes off his arm from the elblow down.

Today a few of the guys went to see him on the hospital and when they got there, this armless dude tells his 7 month preggie wife to get up and give one of the guys her seat.

The guy was like "No it's cool she can sit"
The armless guy goes "no she needs to go home now and cook me supper to bring back here, so she needs to catch the bus now and hurry back to feed me"
Then he started to yell at his wife saying she was a moron.

These guys were like "what the"
The armless guy says "I made her quit her job last night because she will need to be here in the hosp 22 hrs a day. Then she needs to go home for 2 hrs and cook and bring me back food. This is my culture"

He's chinese and been here for 5 yrs and working at my co, for 2.

blood loss or jerk-off or culture?

Shoot, my DH is Chinese too. He's totally Americanized but his folks are WAY old school. I can see how it could be cultural though!

Nothin like an armless jerk. Sheesh! LOL!

Uh-Oh, edited to add: I just got to thinking. Of ALL the lame things me and DH fight over FOOD and meals and preparation of them is the main thing we have knockdown drag outs over.

Chinese peeps are kinda freaky about stuff like that I think. No offense to any good Chinese bros here (are there any?) but they can be kinda like that I think even if it's very subtle.

yes, but tonight I'm making it my biz..hehe!

His wife has no choice yet...........give her some more time in Canada.

culture +jerk-off...

Sadly some cultures are still that way. And when the women are brought up that way they don't know any better. He better hope she doesn't start "americanizing" (is that even a word) or he will be fased with a sad reality when she leaves and hes missing an arm.

EDIT: I didn't realize it was in Canada... do they use the term "canadizing"? haha

american women won't see this as anything but insane

Two years ago, a guy fell into the metal chipper. He was pulp! I work is a very safe place

No doubt that the guy is a jerk... but just to play devils advocate. IF thats how they were brought up and tought that how he was acting was right, is it all his fault for acting that way?

I'm sorry but I'm gonna need to get the other side of the story. This story is being told by a man hater.

Yes it is.

He knows right and wrong, because he's surrounded by people who know right and wrong. This is not rocket science. You can't kill your muslim wife in Toronto "because that's what my grandfathers did whenever a wife cheated on them".

If he couldn't understand this right and wrong - he never should've gotten a visa to live here.

funny you say that, when the guys were telling me the story today, I replied "Maybe the loss of his arm was his karma"
But then I thought, it's his wife that's paying for it

LOL! I'm sitting here thinking about how I have one job in life right now...to take care of a Chinese man and his offspring and to make his family look good (respect).

Wow, I really like it though for the most part. So, I guess it may be more cultural than I thought.

Oh come on get over it. I gave you some tough love. I'm not a man hater by the way. But it does freak me out that in this day and age men still believe they are superior.

Legal and illegal are very different from right and wrong. and I agree he is around people now that think they know "right and wrong" but this could be a very different culture than hes used to. And even if he is trying to be a "good" man it can take years to change what has been drilled into his head for his whole life. And Im sure those people he grew up around that helped to create his current views also thought they knew right from wrong.

Man, it was terrible. The guy was on 3rd shift. only 10 guys around. No one found his body (or pcs of his body) until hours later when they saw blood scattered everywhere.

Not that strange to be bitter after something like that. My dad lost a couple of fingers and he was very hard to deal with for a while afterward.

No, more teaching the kids to say the right things to the MIL, FIL. "Hi Grandma" "Hi Grandpa" But teaching them to say it nicely in Chinese and looking them in they eye and such.

Also, just being very attentive to thier needs and teaching the kids to be nice to their friends, ect.

They are def. not high-society types and moved here poor. I love them and really admire them. Not warm and fuzzzy though.

I love taking care of my man too, but at my own will. If I were preggies and had to take a bus and cook for Marc, I would saw off his other arm

haha!

Smurfy said:

Traditional Asian cultures are very big on outward appearances and how they "look" to other familes or just in the community. Little things like having a child that didn't go to college, or didn't finish college can be a big blemish on thier family.

Having a wife that doesn't "respect" her husband or do her family "duties" can be looked upon as a "lower class" or just not respected.

Smurfy said:

No, it is about pride and respect. The mother is ALWAYS the cornerstone and foundation of the family. It is SHE that is responsible for how the family functions. Very Eastern European as well.

I was raised to believe that a woman's *decoration* is her ability to cook, clean and properly raise her children. She takes care of all and doesn't seek praise but only revels in silent satisfaction when all look on her family with admiration.

Too bad I wasted those years on the jerk of all jerks.

Ah well... At least I got it right the second time around. :whatever:

I don't see you that way, I was just giving you shit like you gave me, thus the "HA!". I guess I could have used a smilie or something. : /

Oh, men are superior by the way :)

Well I bet the nurses will say something to him.
Either way, common sense states you do not make a preggies woman cater to you 22 hrs a day.

NO, he's Taiwan born! He moved here when he was starting kindergarten. They tried to put him in a "special" class with immigrant ESL kids and my FIL tripped out and made the kids master English and learn their long division before school the next year, lol.

I agree... and I hope they do. I hope that hes not really a jerk and its not his "culture" its just the anger from his arm. and I hope he gets over it....

Not to mention.. .I hope he gets a good workmans comp package after making his wife quit work... Depending on how far along she is she prolly would have been on maternity leave before to long anyway.

I have the Italian mother gene (and I'm not even Italian) in which I have to make sure everyone is fed (whether they are hungry or not) so I don't really see the harm in bringing your loved one food while they're laid up in the hospital.

But speak to me with such disrespect and infront of your friends I may smack the shit out of you with a cast iron pan while you're sleeping and then lie about it.

Many old school cultures view the woman as the servant of the household, Chinese are no different.

:whatever:

nothing wrong with bringing someone food at all. Not in this case, but most cases, it's sweet.

Depends on how long they have been here etc.

I know Indians here in the US who bring their slaves (servants).

I also see them walking in the evening and the wife walks behind the husband.

I would say he is a douche bag, however it is not really my place. Could be his cultural background or it could be that his marriage is conditioned that way. With all that being said I don't think I would like the guy very much

Any pics? Where do you work?

When I was a kid I worked a an Ice House and we would fill the bottom of boats up with ice to go fishing/shrimping. We would use ice hook and drag a 200lb block of ice into the cutter while one guy would be in the boat spraying the ice. Well we were going to lunch and another boat came and we had to hurry and give them ice. Well I was in the bottom spraying when nothing but blood started shooting out and pieces of meat. When we were leaving for lunch the guy had put on his jacket and the cutter caught his sleeve and sucked him into it. I was about to puke down there! His poor wife was waiting in the parking lot to go to lunch with him!

When this happened, I had nightmares for weeks.

Yea we use alot of valves offshore in the oilfield and when you get pressure on them it's get's dangerous. If the guy was American I would say maybe he was just upset from the surgery and pain meds because I almost lost my leg and I know I was an ass the first week in there from everything. If he was already like that then I guess it will only get worse for her.

chinese men are fuckin stupid

i've talked to half chinese people before (with their mother being chinese) and they thanked god their father wasn't.

that being said, having your arm cut off fuckin blows and is some traumatic shit. i'd be a total fuckin mess and hating the world. so who knows
just surprised he's taking it out on the wife as opposed to other people

man, that story is gross. absolutely gross

I'd fix the best "last meal" for that SOB.

Culture is one thing, talking to his wife in such a manner is a WHOLE 'nother ballgame.

pffft. . .blaming domination and poor manners on "culture" is bullshit. . .yeah. . .i realize that there are "cultures" that teach that type of behavior. . .but that doesn't make it right. . .

Probably narcotics clouding his judgment, but my belief is any type of altered mental status from drugs (including alcohol) only brings out the true person. So I'm betting he's like this in real life.

not sure about that. My Mom was on tons of morphine for a colostomy and she was a different person.
Booze does bring out the true subconscience of someone, but you think heavy drugs would do the same?!

Same here. You would think, culture or no culture, the woman must feel pretty bad about herself to allow another person to treat her so badly

My friend grew up in Iraq where her and her sister were very repressed.
He dad passed and her mom raised 3 girls alone.
My friend then married a guy who talked to women like shit (he was from Lebanon) She taught him pretty quickly who wore the pants.
So culture or no culture, I think if people want repsect, they need to stand up

Yanked.....ouch

He was going into the some okuma machine, and wanted to wipe pcs of metal off a part and his sleeve got caught. Pulled him right in.
Someone saw and was able to hit the stop button.
torn from his elbow down.

I would think at that point one would pass out with pain?

Two of my closest pals are Greek. John was in his 50's when they came over from Greece to live and become US citz's. Lilly, my dear pal, use to walk three steps behind John, as it was their "old school" custom.

She catered to his every whim...Until I got her Americanized- lol. It's a wonder John loved me the way he did since I would not bend to his rules. I think he liked it when he found out it's fun when a woman has spunk. I broke him in reeeeal good. lol

I miss John. He died a few years ago and miss him so very much. Lilly and I are still close. Her son lives in Boston and I 'll be visiting him in a few months.

"Custom is the law of fools". :)
