So Mrs. Digger is on the treadmill...

... putting in her morning mile, and not holding on to the bar where the cardio monitor is, right?

Except it lights up anyway. Starts flashing 162. Which is a good bit outside her Target Zone, thank you very much just the same.

Now, this has happened before, so she just sort of ignores it. Then she realizes that on the Percor next to her is a person, dripping with jewelry, and (did you guess yet?)...

...yakking on her cell phone.

As it turns out, Diamond Lil eventually hangs up, and the pulse monitor on Mrs. Digger's machine turns itself off. Aha! Mystery solved.

How's that possible? I thought the cardio monitors used a modified lead one on Einthoven's triangle to calculate hr

:lmao:

I wonder if that's in any way connected to the reason cell phones aren't allowed in hospitals.

I know the reason given is that they effect the patients monitors, but I never realy believed it to be true. Just more cautionary/we just want to be a pain in the ass.

I wonder how many people I may have killed or caused to have unnecessary medical procedures. :worried:

No its Tesla's Coil.

Seriously, I thought they measured the amplitude of Qrate of the leftventricular depolarization through positive negative electrodes, I dont know how cell phones could interfere with an electrical pattern. They do mess up the telemetry of patients in the hospital on older equipment, but thats a different mechanism. Never heard of it messing up a closed a electrical system

yes, thats true.
you probably haven't hurt anyone but it has happened that the signals inteferred.
my family business in nuclear medicine- my father is often in the cardiology department and yapping away to me till a patient is brought in.

Nuc med is a great technology,I love it, better than stressecho but takes to long and 3Xthe expense but alot cheaper than cath lab which is the gold standard
Yeah, you dont want to make a cell phone call and turn off someone's IV

I hope there arent any fishbowls around the Percors, the vibration of the machines could scare the lil fishies

JA, My mother was, until about five years ago, the administrator of a Doctors Hosptital in CT... every day accross the country roughly one and a half jumbo jets worth of people die because of 'mistakes'.

About 500 people. A day.

KNOW your doctor, and CHOOSE your hosptital.

Digger, do you have an alter?

I just felt a cool breeze pass through here, I sense a presence but the force inside of me is not strong enough to make contact. Long distance and Marathon runner Alberto Salazar had such a low heart rate from conditioning that the SA node that is the pacemaker of the heart wasnt used but rather the backup pacemaker an unusual case of cardiac electrophysiology, the AV node took over as it sensed his heartrate was so low and would fire thinking that the SA was blocked, I think is average HR was 33

On a dark desert highway, cool wind in my hair
Warm smell of colitas, rising up through the air
Up ahead in the distance, I saw a shimmering light
My head grew heavy and my sight grew dim
I had to stop for the night

So I called up the Captain,
'Please bring me my wine'
He said, 'We haven't had that spirit here since nineteen sixty nine'
And still those voices are calling from far away,
Wake you up in the middle of the night
Just to hear them say...

And she said 'We are all just prisoners here, of our own device'

Last thing I remember, I was
Running for the door
I had to find the passage back
To the place I was before
'Relax,' said the night man,
We are programmed to receive.
You can checkout any time you like,
but you can never leave

One of the reasons why we dont let a loved one stay in the hospital by themselves.

I dont trust those people
