...and we really are getting along well. I dont want to say she is "the one", but the possibility is there. The only problem is she doesnt work out at all. I have always dated very active women (triathletes, bball, runners, etc) She says she would like to try the gym, but she isnt "down with the sickness" like we all are, and i know shed just sit on the ab/adducter machines for an hour. Do i try to push her, or just deal with a gf that doesnt understand me?? also she smokes.....not a thing im used to with gf's. Any advice or similar situations out there??

just get her in the gym with you, let her taste the results

The smoking thing, though, how can you put up with that? I don't care how hot a girl is, if she smokes I physically don't want to touch her.

My girlfriend isn't "down with the sickness", yet she accepts mine even though she doesn't fully understand it. She's got into weights as a result of our relationship and has seen some great results, but her heart isn't really in it. That's got a lot to do with her being able to eat anything and maintain an incredible body, too :)

As for the smoking, my girlfriend quit the day we became a couple. We were friends for ages prior to doing so and she knew I absolutely hated it and wouldn't stand for it. She hasn't had a ciggie in the 11 and a half months we've been together, and won't ever again :)

Personally, I need a girl that keeps in shape but not as in shape as me. Just as long as she goes to the gym and maintains a presentable physique. However, if you feel that she needs to be hardcore just like you, then introduce her to dieting, nutrition, supplementation, and training. She just may enjoy it.

My husband hasn't done curls with anything heavier than a coffee cup in years. Pick your priorities and work around them. I can tell you I have alot of respect and admiration for couples that live this lifestyle together. It seems to be one hell of an intense bond. I don't have it, but I can deal with that. Can you?

I dont care if a girl i like smokes or is a vegan or something, all of that can change and i dont think that i am perfect in every way so its all about compromising.

Personally i prefer girls that lift weights since girls who dont tend to become a little bit round on the edges if you know what i mean. And allot of girls that date bodybuilders get extremely selfconscious about their bodies and think that they are not good enough since they dont have a matching physique. Can be annoying in the long run.

A girl can have the perfect body and perfect lifestyle, but if her personality isn't a match with yours, you could be in for trouble.

But, I'm one of the lucky ones. Or is it my husband that's lucky? Anyway, we both workout and love it! I couldn't imagine not going to the gym and not planning my life around it and competing. Me and my hubby have different goals in the gym (his to get bigger, mine to get stronger), but being able to support each other is the best thing I could ask for. I'm guessing that a lot of girls aren't so supportive of their guys and get jealous of the time they devote to the gym.

Damn right.

Also, if she doesn't stop, the gym ain't gonna do crap for her.

Hey,

Wait a sec, I though spatts was married to TheProject? I am so confused?

Anyway, when I met my husband he had an awesome physique. I was a 18 year old girl, with a nice 18 year old body. Never lifted a weight. He explained to me that this was part of his life, and that he would really like for me to try it. I was interested and thought, hey why not.

Well, I didn't like it. I hated in infact. Over the next 6 years it caused some problems. In the whole scheme of things it was always a little itty, bitty problem ontop of what most normal couples have to deal with.

Well we both went back to school and both of our body's suffered, badly!! After the wedding, we bought a home gym but we were lucky if we got down there 6 X a month. then all of a sudded we were having MCD's for dinner every other night.

I was sick of the way I looked, they way I felt, and most of all I didn't want my husband toughing me cause I was so ashamed. Even though he didn't look as good as he normally did, I was still embarrased. This made our relationship suffer.

Then one day something clicked in my brain. Every since 12/26/02 I have been on a non stop mission to get into shape. He saw my fire, and it resurected him. WE are now officially gym rats. WE close the place every night. I have since surpassed that 18 year old body and I am still striving to look better.

I think it's important for her to atleast try. And if she doesn't like it, then you owe it to yourself to keep going. Trust me, there are gonna be days when she looks at you and begs you to stay with her instead of the 1-2hours you devote to the gym. You will need her to understand that this IS your life. Just as you accept that she is not a gym person she WILL accept that you are. You can't slack on this!!!! If she will not change, then you shouldn't either.

I am a firm believer, that those who train together, stay together. But don't twist her arm over it.

If she does decide to try it, make it a very positive experience, and hopefully she will want to come back.

Just my two pennies. Now i'm done!

over the past couple of years my wife has slowly gotten into the gym with me. That sounds good, but she is not as intense as I am. Every day she goes with me I hear at the end of the work out, "are you done yet". Do I look done yet!! This sounded nice at first to share that part of my life with her, but now I don't know. My advise, if she wants to do it cool, if not se ya in a couple of hours.

Get her ass in the gym, and get her to quit the ciggs, or drop her and find another one.

Re: the gym thing, she doesn't have to be a hardcore weight trainer, but I personally will not ever be with another chick who is not making some effort at fitness in some fashion or another. It would be nice I suppose to have a chick who was totally down with what we are about, but Spatts, and Jill Mills are married, and Kara Bohigian won't return my calls, and that is about all the femanina's that I know in the game I would be interested in.

And for God's sake, put your foot down over the smoking if nothing else. That is going to destroy her looks in a hurry.

I AM NOT MARRIED TO HANNIBAL.

I AM NOT MARRIED TO THE PROJECT.

I AM MARRIED TO A 30 YEAR OLD LAWYER WHO NEVER WORKS OUT, THAT'S WHY YOU NEVER HEAR ABOUT HIM. WE'VE BEEN MARRIED 7 YEARS AND HAVE A 3 YEAR OLD. HE POSTS ON ELITE, BUT I'M SURE YOU HAVE NO CLUE WHO HE IS.

Thanks.... :)

I use to be married to someone who always relied on me to make the decisions on just about everything. From training to vacations; to his job choices. When I realized that if it weren't for the fact we were married, that I wouldn't want to "hang" with him, I decided to divorce him.

Now I'm with a sig other who is my Best Friend. He was also my sparring partner, beer drinking buddy, and now my training partner.

So, take it from me: if she can't be your best friend; then no matter if she trains or not, it ain't going to work.

my wife (trinity73) scares me....... if i dont do what she says then i really get it.............. no.......... i have always dated my best friends, i met my wife and we started dating 2 weeks later......... then we became best friends while dating, only after that did i ask her to marry me!!!!

I am so embarrased to admit that this was me!!! The funny thing was that my little sister asked if we can start training her. And I told her that if we do, that she better not whine or complain, or ask me to take her home.

My poor husband. He use to have to put up with this all the time! He's a saint!

Spatts,

Go it!

My girlfriend hates the gym...can't stand it. She also has some of the best genetics I have ever seen too... She trained with me the other day and she is FREAKY strong!!!!!!

I have my thing, she has hers. I have my time with the 'guys' when we train. No worries, nothing. I get my time...and she gets here. Her fun time is studying....really...

I confess!!!

I thought that Spatts was married to the Project (James Hetfield II)!!!

Well, I was wrong and maybe I shouldn't have posted this!!

Uh oh. . . . .

People have their own interests. . .if I am with a girl I care about, I will not force her to do anything. . I won't even mention it. . I will let her make the decision. However, I expect good clean habits (ways of not abusing the body - alcohol and drugs).

I guess thats why I always end up with christian/school teacher/athletic chicks. . . lol!!
