It's barely visible on the surface but is a hard lump under the skin on the penis. What the hell is it?

Well there are a few possibilities:
Ingrown hair, zit, STD posibally a herpes out break. In the case of herpes condoms are no guarantee for protection. I would go to the doctors to get it checked out. DO NOT TRY AND POP IT OUT!!!! Cheer up it does not sound life threatening, although you may not be able to apply enjoyable pressure to your penis for awhile.

Thanks for the input! It certainly is strange and it doesn't hurt at all. Oh, and I've already tried to pop it and that doesn't seem to work.
Dead Man Inc, where is it exactly located. I'm just asking because I had a hard lump right on the base of my penis. I thought was just an ingrown hair so I quit shaving the old tallywacker and the lump just grew bigger,,, it didn't hurt eithor.
I started getting really worried and then it went away.
A couple of weeks later it came back and now its gone again.
This is what happened to me, I don't know about you.

could be anything from a bite to a zit to a wart....
herpes can have a weeping small sore, in that the sore has drooping parts that allow pus and nasty shit to come out (which is filled with HSV virus)
warts can be bigger, but range in size.
go see a doc to find out wtf it is

Had a friend who got one...
He got the little lump at the base after he banged some skank from a bar. Anyway he went to a Doc and it was some sort of STD. Lucky for him it was bacterial and not viral and other than having to rub a cream on it and abstain from fucking for about a month or two he was fine.
