Slow improvement

Hey whats up guys?
Im 5 7 weighing 148. Last year i was 5 7 weighing around 135.. Is this slow improvement or decent or fast? I feel like im improving very slow..Im more of the skinny type so im really interested in gaining muscle mass, i eat fruit veggies and meat everyday bc i work at a restaurant. I haven't been taking any supplements and don't plan on taking any. Haven't taken protein for a very long time just bc i wanted to go all natural but i am planning on taking some protein here and there for faster muscle recovery.

This is some what of my weekly/monthly work out agenda.

Day 1: 4-5 Chest excercises/ 3 Tricep excercises (sometimes)

Day 2: 4-5 Back excercises/ 3 bicep excercises (sometimes)

Day 3: 4-5 Shouler/ 3 Tricep excercises (sometimes)

Day 4: Legs and Abs

I do 4-5 Sets and 6-8 Reps for all my workouts. I use to do 3-4 Sets and 8-10 Reps. Sometimes i do pyramids from heavy to light.

When i work out i NEVER use any momentum but sometimes i feel like it holds me back from doing more weights but i like to stick to what majority say and the last time i checked momentum means no work.I jog here and there before and sometime after my weight lifting just to keep my endurance up. I dont always do the same movements week after week i like to change it up as much as i can so i can shock my muscles up a bit. I eat 3-4 times a day. Like i said i am improving but not as fast as i'd like to and i know i can but i feel like theres something wrong with my agenda/plan. If anyone has any recommendations on the right way to building mass i would love to hear it. Please feel free to Private Message me or whatever. Thanks everyone! I know this is a lot but i'd like to get REAL answers from someone who has much experience in being a hardgainer who has dramatically improved in their size and weight.

Well, how old are you?

That makes all the difference as to why.

Though, I can see you eat 3-4 times a day. You need to eat 5-6 times a day, all high in protein.

It is probably as simple as not consuming enough calories. But hey, if you continue to put on 10 pounds of muscle a year that is nothing to scoff at either!! Just keep training hard with compound movements, and bump up the calorie and protein levels and take it from there..

I am 21..I try to eat 5-6 times a day but sometimes I don't bc I'm busy or it's just too much.. The only thing that really grows when I eat that much seems to be my stomach. I got a big stomach for someone my size. Anything I need to fix about my workouts?

im pretty sure whey protein still falls into the natural field.. but its all personal opinion.. and if thats 10lbs of pure muscle each year i wouldnt consider that slow.. just remember its not a sprint

That's a big gain for "last year" dude! I'd say you're on the right track. Unless you gained a lot of fat or something...

I worked in bars and I know, it's tough to stick to a diet. Keep at it though....you'll find a routine that works..

Lotsa Skeletor in this thread

Guys 10lbs of MUSCLE a year is HUGE gains. You gotta realize how hard it is to add actual LBM.

I wouldn't say 10 lbs of muscle maybe 50 50. I quit smoking and I think that's a huge reason why I put on some weight.. The cigarettes were killing my appetite. What do you mean this thread has lots of skeletor? Sorry I'm new to this forum.

For your workout routine i would scratch what you are doing for now, or even put it on hold for a little while because it is working, but i would go back to the basics. Bench presses, deadlifts, squats and rows. I have been told this many times buy knowledgable bro's to do this and i must say damnnnn do they know what they are talking about. Iv really concentrated more on the basics that on simple concentration excercises and in about 3 weeks you will notice a diffrence. Eat like a fuckin animal good clean food and go balls to the wall at the gym and i guarentee by christmas you will be happy and going in the direction you want to be

everyone's body is different and depending on the amount of activity he did during highschool can be a big reason why. there's nothing wrong with a bro whos getting interested in putting on some mass and lifting weights whether he is a buck 10 or 300. id say hes better off then some of the big guys i knew in highschool, once they stopped playing sports but kept eating the same they got big and pudgy. he has the advantage of getting big and continuing to be healthy for the rest of his life.

keep lifting hard and eating as much healthy food as you can. get your protein in each of the meals you have and youll be ok. and drink lots of milk!

From reading everyones advice it seems like i just need to slap in more meals in a day and try not to rest so much in between my sets.. I rest about 2 mins bc i remember someone telling me if i want to bulk up i need to rest in between my sets for a good 2 mins..Thanks for all the advice and i look forward to chatting with all of you later and do my best to give others advice on what i know. Going back to the basics sounds refreshing and i'll give that a shot for the next 2 weeks.

Extramile, good for you bro..When i was 14 i was boxing so i've always been a lighter guy due to heavy cardio workouts. Been boxing for 6 years. That might explain why i only have 10% body fat. Thanks for the great advice.
