Shoulder Injury...NEED ADVICE!!!!

whats up...injured my sholder a few months ago(doc said it was pulled trapezious)..well, it still hasnt healed. It doesnt really hurt anymore, but my arm gets numb sometimes, and my right arm is VERY weak....i cant bench, do shoulder presses, and can only do very light bicep curls without cheating w/ my right arm. I've been icing it and taking ibuprofen and nothing works...to make it worse i'm right in the middle of a cycle...anyone have any advice on what I should do?

If your arm gets numb you may have pinched a nerve. I hate shoulder injuries, mine hurt like hell. I have to do chest and front delts on the same day to give myself more recovery between workouts.Sucks.-WULF

Go see a Sports Med doc & possibly get an MRI done. When you know for sure what it is that's causing you these problems then you can make the best decision based on how your test results come back. I speak from experience bro. Since the ibuprofen & ice don't seem to be having much effect I would suggest moving on to the next phase & doing the MRI. That's what I did. At least you would know for sure what it is that you're dealing with. Just my .02

I would agree with the other guys on this one, I waited with my shoulder injury and surgery became my only option. Give it time to heal and talk to your doctor about the MRI, most shy away due to the expense of it (in my experience) but push him for it or see another doctor, good luck with it!

Yes, get an MRI. You need to find out exactly what is wrong with it. Also, even with MRI's things can still be missed. My last MRI only showed a partially torn rotator cuff, but when they went in there they did exploratory surgery and found that I had torn my bankart repair which I had done 10yrs earlier.

Hey chick mag, I suffered a pinched nerve in my neck between c5 and c6. It was a herniated disk and pinched a nerve. I suffered the same effects with the numbness. The docs treated me for a year and a half for a shoulder injury (rhomboid - traps). Finally I went to a sports med and he did and MRI on my neck. Found the problem and then fixed it. I had surgery that removed the disk and then used a piece of bone from my hip to fuse the 2 disks together. That was back in 91. I'm glad I had it done. I'm now 36 and benching a little over 300 and shoulder press behind the neck with 185. I know, shouldn't be doing behind the neck with that kind of past injury. Anyway, get an MRI and if it is a pinched nerve and surgery is the only way, just remember. It won't get better if you need the surgery. IMO.
