Should I do this?

You can really go wild with this stuff. Do you have an adjustable bench? I may just get flat one since I hardly ever incline. Not that I wouldn't in the future.

Dynamic Eleiko has an office not too far from me but they only handle the addidas part. The real Eleiko stuff is East Coast. Woulda been sweet if I could just drive down and pick up my stuff.

A home gym consisting of a power rack + barbell/bumper set is indispensable if you have any sort of a "busy" life. I couldn't feasibly lift w/out it.

I can't help much b/c you've already looked at midwestbarbell, which was going to be my suggestion. For anyone that cares, a place called Gill is selling ridiculously cheap bumper plates. $75/pair, not including shipping. http://www.gillathletics.com/GillItemView.aspx?FSID=WT2820

Thanks for the link. You know the difference between top flight training bumpers and the basic black ones? Tolerances or somesuch?

I'm really looking forward to this now. I just need to find the most level area of concrete to throw some rubber mats down on and I'm good to go for any exercise not needing a bench.

Neither of you considering a full cage? I have to say working out at home is great from a convenience point of view and as you say, you can practise new exercises whenever they take your fancy.

Thought about it but it's too pricey - I'd rather spend the money on the weights.

Plus they're kind of big and with the squat stands you can easily break it down and move it around if needed.

You guys are getting me excited about this stuff now. Must...fight...urge...to...click...on...'submit order'

I reckoned the same plus I wasn't sure about the width. A power rack that was too narrow would annoy me a lot. Once I get my bar and weights, I can take some measurements and see about stage two. Meanwhile, squat stands will allow me to do just about everything except bench. The bar should be just below mid-thigh on the lowest setting.

Why did you not get the Eleiko. I need a partner in crime here.

Well it's only about $200 more for a really good rack. Then you wouldn't need the gym at all. But if it's a storage issue then I guess there's no way wround it.
