best way to get used to running long distance is to run stares,use the stare master.running stares is 10 times as hard but it uses all the muscles you use for
long distance running.when ever I had a pt test coming up I would run stares for a few weeks and I always dropped my fun time by a few minnits.you can run stars for like 45 mins and get the same work out as if you would have run for twice as long.when you run stars over and over and over then go run on flat ground your like fuck this is easy.
take your time running down the stars so it dont kill the knees and blast on your
way up.I find going to a stadum is the best.
for the joint pain.the night before the run force hydrate and take a motren 30 mins before you run.
