Im talkin a button up shirt. I need a xl or xxl to fit in the shoulders and then they lok like shit everywehere else. Makes me look like a fat slob. I also have a problem with suit jackets. I take a 48 or 50 but then is huge in the mid section. Im sure many others are plagued with this problem. Anyone have any good solutions.

Tailor. All my suits have to be tailored because to get the wider shoulders, they give you the huge jacket all the way around. Same with the pants. They do carry athletic cut shirts, but they don't usually fit right either. The tailor can take those in pretty easily too.

I have had the same problem. I can't find quality clothing that fits my chest size... this is getting rediculous. All shirts are too long and make you look like you're preggo.

What is an average price for a dress shirt to be tailored. Howbout a sports coat or suit coat.
You can get pretty nice, button-up, dress shirts made for about $100.00. It's worht it because you will have a great selection of colors and textures to choose from as well as get a shirt that fits perfectly everywhere (neck, arms, cuffs, shoulder girdle, torso). You can also buy a shirt off the rack and take it to a tailor and have them take in the sides for about $12-$15. So, you pay 30-40 for a dress shirt and 15 for the alteration and you're at about $50, for double that you get a completely perfect fit and a higher quality of shirt. If you're paying 60-80 for off the rack dress shirts then the decision is really easy.

Absolutely! I can't begin to tell you how impressed I have been since I have been getting my shirts and suits custom made / "made to measure". Yeah the stuff can be expensive but hey, YOU ARE WORTH IT. I used to look like a wierdo becuase I would have to buy shirts with 18+ neck sizes and they were so big around the middle that I looked like a fool. This also goes without saying that suits are 3 times as painfull. I'm a 50 long but the sholders, arms, mid section are so out of whack that I have to pay a friggin tailor about 120 bucks to get the damn thing to fit. And even when it does fit the damn thing has been altered so much that it looks stupid.

What I did was find a good tailor. He spent 3 hours with me going thur books and books of swatches (different types of fabrics and colors). He asked me what I liked in terms of colors, what I didn't like, old fashioned or modern, what I would be using it for, what kind of buttons I liked, what type of collors, what types of cuffs (12 types), pocket / no pocket, etc. He was also helpfull in putting together looks so that I could mix and match the clothes I bought along with what I had at home. He also had me make a list of things I had and things I didnt have so he could round our my wardrobe and make the best use of my investment. And then when the clothes arrived he delivered them to my house, had me try them on, made sure they fit as promised, took pictures so I had an idea of how to mix and matchm, and then went on his way.

All in all the cost for about 6 custom shirts that fit me to a T - $700
2 custom made suits - $1600
3 pairs of slacks - $650
--------------------------------------------
Roughly $3,000 - Worth every penny

How to rationalize:
1. You will feel more assertive and confident
2. The women will notice you more because of #1
3. The guys will notice because they will call you gay....becuase you put time into your appreance and because they are pissed that they ladies are talking to you
4. If you have an office job they will take notice and you will be in a better position for a pay raise, promotion, etc. Research it if you dont believe me
5. You wont look stupid anymore in puffy baggy shirts
6. You can lift more because your shirts will be made to fit you NOT some squid from Europe
8. You will save money becuase this type of clothing is not succeptible to fashion changes. A dark suit with tie will always be in style. You wont have to run out and buy the new SeanJohn or Armani shit!
9.You will be an asset to the BBuilding community as a sharped dressed gentleman rather than a nut with baggy pants, dew rag, Got Fina T-Shirt, etc
10. Do you put cheap tires on an expensive car? No, then why would you put cheap shit on your body.

Bring up shoes on another day......

I think the last shirt I had tailored was around 15 bucks. It was an off the rack shirt, and fit decent except in the mid-section. He took the sides in, took out some length on the bottom, and voila, perfect fit.

I'm not a big guy, but having wider shoulders/back, and not carrying any fat around the middle means I have to buy shirts made for bigger guys---but then they end up long in the torso and way too f'ing big in the middle.

Some companies offer "fitted" shirts, and these are basically a normal shirt that has the middle taken in. I have a few, but the tailored shirts are always the best fit.
