Could be a number of things, my guess is a joint/bone splint problem. Winny did that to me, and it still hurts 6 weeks post cycle.

I get the same problem it is like having shin splints in my forearms. It really freekin hurts when I do straight bar curls holy fuck!!

It happens for a number of reasons. When on AAS u get strong real quick and it's hard for your bones to keep up, and u strain them, also winny dries your joints up big time.

I have that right now in my left forearm!! I am not even on AS, taking creatine though. I had to miss my chest routine yesterday because it hurt so bad, did legs today and I will see how it feels tomorrow. It started hurting sunday and my last workout b4 that was friday when I did delts.

I had this once a while ago. I went to the doctors and they said it was an inflamed tendon in my forearm. Something about the tendon being inflamed and sliding through the "sheath" and rubbing causing pain. Try an EZ bar for curls, seems to help.

Like shin splints but in the forarms

I had this a lot of years ago from barbell curls that were probably too heavy, started dbol 30mged last week and it flared up huge in both forarms from benching. I can train thru it but hurts like a fucker.

Wrap um up

If you wrap them the muscle wont seperate from the bone so much.

I wrap my forearms with an ace bandage before standing curls. Anything over 125 pounds hurts my right forearm I used to have to leave my right hand on the bar and squeeze my forearm with my left hand to relieve the pain before loosening my grip.

I've had it for awhile, especiall in the left arm.......and I haven't been on in awhile...straight bar is the worst, although I found it was pretty bad on bench too...it feels exactly like shin splints, but of course in the forearms...

Gyno-milker, how well does it work.....it is a good idea, i'm going to try that, thanks

If its midforearm, it has nothing to do with your joints cuz the only joints you have there are the elbow above and the wrist below.

Not carpal tunnel syndrome cuz this causes pain/numbness and then weakness in the wrist and thumb/index/middle finger of the hand.

It could be a tendon problem cuz your muslces are stronger than the tendons are used to and it takes them a while to catch up.

It could also be a compartment syndrome if your forarm muscles are very big. Compartment syndrome is when the pressure within the muscle sheaths is so high (from the big muscle) that it compresses the arterial supply more than the own arterial supply's blood pressure. If you block your arteries you are starving your muscle from oxygen. This should feel like a progressively worsening pain as you work out and make your muscles hypoxic. The most common places for this to happen is where there is a small amount of space and nowhere for the pressure to be relieved like the forearms, anterior lower leg, and posterior lower leg. I highly doubt this is the problem though.

Probably a tendon overloading problem. Worst case scenario is you partially or completely rupture a tendon which would cause part or all of your muscle to curl and ball up in the other direction of the tendon tear.

"Hey doc, it hurts when i do this."
Doc says "Then dont do that." :D....seriously...give your muscles time to remodel and repair themselves. Try heat before your workout and ice after your workout. Will improve your circulation to the area.

I had the same thing a few times hurts like hell
turned out to be microfracture in my forearms like shin splints.i couldnt even rest my arms on the kitchen table it seems to hit the right stop and hurt.there is a muscle fitness article on it i got somewhere.they sed its from raising the intensity to quickly for the bone to adapt to it,and suggested a 6week layoff. just cut back on arms for awhile and when i did arms warmed up real good first with light weights.

I FEEL YOUR PAIN!!!

My forearms have been like this for 6 wks now.
Exactly like the post above, straight bar curls and the loaded plate machine are a big HELL NO.

I thought I was the only freak with this problem,no one I asked had heard of it.

Besides layoff, which I can't do. What can we do?
Will it get better if I keep working out?

PEACE

i have the same problem and it has nothing to do with AS, it hurts like hell with any curls exept dumbell curls and only hurts when im doing them, it goes away when i finish my set i know i could curl a lot more if it didnt hurt so bad.:bawling:

I have the identical problem and it has fucked up my bicep routine. Just to check - does it really wreck after bicep curls when u release the dumbell from ur hand? Does it hurt less if u release the dumbell really really slowly?

It fucking hurts!!! :bawling:

I've had the same thing in my forearms when going from an exercise that keeps my forearms in one position and then I have to twist the forearm around ie. palms up to palms down exercise. I was told to take 660mg of Naproxin (Aleve), before workouts to MASK the pain. But Naproxen only masks not cures or helps the injured area. The only thing that alleviates the pain for very long is to let that bodypart rest. Just don't do the exercises that aggravate it for a while. I know it is hard to take a break, but sometimes it just has to be done. I also took Dbol when this was happening, but I don't think this has anything to do with it. Good Luck!

Sounds like splints/strain
the muscle actually tears away from the bone.... ouch that hurts.
I used to have them. I had to back the weight down a bit and see a PT

muscle is connected to bone by tendons....so yea, this is probably what is happening. I forgot about a fracture though....could be that too.

You wanna solution

Train like the goddamn yuppies that are there to socialize and only use 10lb dumbells for 100 rep sets

Like I said earlier, it absolutely kills when doing straight bar curls, especially letting go of the bar. The only thing that helped me was to do hammer curls for a few weeks, then using the EZ curl bar, then only using the straight bar once in a while. Good luck.

I have had this problem for years and have never found a way around it.

It only hurts when I do straight bar curls, sometimes ez bar too. It sucks cause I can only do so much weight. Sometimes I have to let go of the bar real slow.

It takes time and lots of it.

I have had the same thing before. Actually I am getting them again. I just call them forearm splints. The first time I had them was about three years ago. I did nothing to get rid of them except work through the pain. After about a year they pain stopped and never came back. I for some stupid reason took 5 months off from the gym and just started to get the splints again, really sucks. All I know is time is what fixed it for me and hopefully it wont take so long for it to go away this time. By the way I was all natural the first time and still haven’t started anything yet, but very soon.:D

thats right it really hurt when releasing the bar, mine has gone away now for like over a year but watch now that i mentioned it ill feel it at my next workout.
last week i mentioned my shoulder hasnt hurt in a long time then the next morning i was in pain and its lasted about a week now

Lightning bolts shooting up your arms when you open your hands........

I have always had this problem...

Long before I even considered AS?

That happens to me from time to time.. My MD told me it was tendonitis.. Growing up, I worked on my families farm, and my forearms and back greatly benefited from the labor.. However, now my forearms seem to grow faster than any other body part.. And it plays hell on those tendons that run from the pinky to the elbow.. When I do any type of training where they are heavily involved, it feels like little tings of electricity.. Stretching them a WHOLE lot seemed to clear it up nicely.. Espically between sets, and once you get home from the gym.. If it gets to nasty, I have cuffs I wear up close to my elbows, and that helps a lot.. I would concentrate more of the stretching though than depending on the cuffs/straps.. And of course, if it gets to bad, always best to take a week off.. Better a week cause you are doing it for your own good, than 6- 8 because you have absolutely no choice..

A practical solution. Ok here goes. U have probably gotten some type of tendonitis in your forearms..which is an inflamation of the tendon. Now trying to train through this will cause further injury with longer healing time. If it hurts don't do it...simple as that. Now what the body will do. It will take 3 weeks for your body to heal then tendon (presuming you don't aggrevate it again) and another 3 weeks to lay out the collegan (i.e. scar tissue). Now you think everything is hunky dory and start training again only to realize there is still pain. WTF??? Well it's actually the scar tissue that's causing this cause it isn't flexible. you need to find some way to smoothen it out and make it flexible so body treats it like a tendon/muscle. The only thing that has helped me with this is a practice called ACTIVE RELEASE TECHNIQUE. A few physicotherapists know this and can work wonders on scar tissue. Good luck with your injury. Mine lasted 4 months before I learned how to treat it properly.

One little piece of advice that a lot of pro bodybuilders have passed down ad you may have missed. When using heavy weight for whatever exercise, upon finishing your set do not...I repeat DO NOT release the bar quickly. Instead let your hand relax then release the bar. U will save yourself a lot of injuries with this technique.

Sorry for the little composition but I am speaking from months of pain and 100's of hours learning how to help cure myself. MSM helped a little too. Good luck to all with these types of injuries.
