Shaping up (cardio)

i've been doing some cardio in the mornings on an empty stomach powered by 2 Lipoflame capsules of goodness. Between 20 & 30 mins of around 6-7mph on the treadmill. I end up doing about 2miles or so.

How is that for stimulating metabolism & burning a bit of fat i've accumulated? My calories are about 300 short of normal as well during this time.

I was doing NO cardio prior to this. So I went from zilch to this program. Trying to adhere to it daily or at least 6 times a week.
 
I see a lot of people advise to run on an empty stomach in the morning to lose fat, but how does this make sense? After an 8 hour fast, wouldn't the body rather burn a lot of muscle along with it?

I know for a fact HIIT would burn much more fat than jogging 30 mins a day, but i would prefer not to do it on an empty stomach
