Severe Abdominal injury-Please help!

Hi guys, I'm an mma fighter that suffered a horrible ab tear/partial rupture that has lefe anything other than walking out of the question for quite some time. Can anyone suggest the best protocol for increasing wound healing capacity and speed? I am incredibly depressed over this injury as I just came back from rehabbing a dislocated elbow (missed two fights).

The only good thing about being couch bound is all the time I have to learn on the internet. Already I've picked up a ton of good knowledge on this site.

Thanks people :D

A Tear/rupture will take time to heal no more can be done, rest, and take things easy and most of all try not to do anything that will aggrivate it!

Thanks Radar. Being a newb to this kind of subject matter I thought that maybe increasing anabolism overall would help wound healing. I'm sure my anabolic rate is going to fall without the ability to excercise. Is this a misunderstanding on my part? Again, I'm a newb so bear with me. I know certain substances are actually bad for ligament and tendon strength, but I was thinking that since my injury is mostly muscle that something that would greatly increase protien synthesis and growth factors etc would really help, but again I'm just an athlete trying to learn their way- never really researched much until recently.

Thanks again for the help

GH might help and I'm sure that an expert when it comes to recovery could do wonders... but good luck finding one.

Your body will be less anabolic overall because you're not working out, and yes, using steroids might help prevent that to some extent, but I'm not sure it'd be worth it. If anything, you should keep em until you can train again to recover your strength.

Re: Severe Ab injury-Please help!

I don't think anything is going to help you other than rest, good nutrition and clean living.

One thing you can do that is PROVEN to heal you quickly is visualization techniques. Just turn everything off and concentrate on the sound of your own breathing, then do some visualizing exercises where you see your injury being healed. You see the muscles repairing themselves and nutrients filling each muscle cell making them strong again...

Take the rest time to watch some fight and training films. There is a lot to learn out there.
