Serious question re school grade rules for attendance.

Here's my dilemna. My daughter is 5 and she's into High School Musical 2. It's a kid's movie or whatever about kids. HA! So I bought her EXPENSIVE tickets this summer to High School Musical 2 on Ice. I had to purchase them in advance for November for my area. The date is around Thanksgiving. The day before. I didn't really think about if it would interfere with school, but maybe in the back of my mind I thought she would have off for Thanksgiving. Turns out, she has a half day.

Anyway, should I pull her out of school to take her to the show? No, I won't say she's sick, because she'll go to school the next day telling everyone where she was the day before.

Should i just tell the school what's going on? I'm not so sure they'll like that. FUCK!!

Anyone know the rules to these things. She's in freaking kindergarten!! I want her to get into a good college! lol

Seriously, let me know what to do. Surely in between the jokes, there can be good information I can use.

my father took me to see Summerslam (wwf) I swear I am not white trash and he isnt either but we just took a personal day off.

fuck it she is 5. who cares if she misses a day

She's a great student. I don't her to fall behind.

Plus, she's the smartest kid in class. You know what that means? She can't be mine.

I will have her miss a day, but what would I tell the school? "I'm taking her to see ice skating"?

send a note in with her to the principal and teacher a few days before hand. . .tell them what you're doing just like you described above (you can leave out the cuss words :) ). . .they won't give a shit. . .most teachers/principals are ecstatic to find parents that will actually do stuff with their children that the kids are actually interested in. . .

1 day man. who cares

dont call her in? what is the worst if you dont call her in? nothing

just call up and say she is taking a personal day off. we do it for work.

call the school up "hello my daugther ____ _____ needs to take the ___ of nov off for a personal day"

pause

thank you

put some bass in your voice and say it this is how it is going to go down

You're going to look silly sitting in one of those tiny ass chairs in front of her principal.

Tell them you are taking her out for a day and make certain you get her algebra and physics homework in advance.

In Michigan, attendance at k-3 is liberal and excuses granted easily with no penalties.

I'd think a school would smile about a little girl going to a musical movie with Dad. Write her a note for school respect, and enjoy the time with her.

Don't worry, it's not like this move will directly result in her becoming a stripper in 15 years.

yeah, go ahead, school's not that important.

lol @ some of you.

Thanks for the replies. I will do it, I'm not losing the money I spent on those tickets, AND she's looking forward to it. I got two tickets for her and my wife. The wife loves ice skating and my daughter loves HSM2, so it's perfect.

I have zero problems telling the school she'll be off, but I DO have a problem telling them it's for entertainment purposes. It goes against my own personal rules. It was my fault I bought the tickets in the summer without thinking about the exact date.

Day before Thanksgiving. It's a HALF day. Watch they have some kind of Thanksgiving play or something for the parents. lol That would be just great! They'll practice for like 3 weeks for it, then I'll pull her out of it.

That's it! She's gonna become a stripper. Fuck!!! Where did i go wrong?!?!

It was probably that one time you took her out of school early so she could play.

I just ripped up the tickets. How the hell am I gonna tell her now? Fuck, I hate this.

She tells everyone she knows "I'm going to HSM2" blah blah... FUCK!!!

Shit, I should have just sold them. Fuck me x 2!

Let me know which pole garden she ends up at ...

I'mma get me a stack of ones and show up...

I just want to know how the fuck the first time you have been grocery shopping was last fucking week? I will fuck up your car with a shopping cart the time you make your second trip to the grocery store.

LOL! in high school my mom did all the shopping, then i was on a meal plan for my first two years of college. Once i moved into a house i ate a bunch of meals at sorority houses because the girls don't really eat and there was always tons of extra food, and i also ate out like 3 times a day at least. Campus had tons of fast food places where you could still eat pretty clean. Now where i've moved places aren't really open that late and i don't really know any sororities well enough to pillage their kitchen
