I was leaving Home Depot today getting stuff to replace that was broken, and was small talking the couple beside me as we left the exit to the parking lot, we havn't walked 10 feet when this black car right out of the blue came roaring by at 40-50 MPH the guys wife grabbed me by the arm as i was looking at her ,the car missed me by a foot or two! I figured it was teenagers ,i was pissed, imagined what would have happened if a child was out of view beside his father an ventured out into the lot!
I tried to track him down but the lot was so full it was impossible, Crazy that in an instant your life could be changed forever.

People can be idiots sometimes. Unfortunately, I'm pretty much used to stupid shit that people do. Nothing shocks me anymore.

Sobering to say the least when you have a close call.
 
Man... that got me to thinking about the time I almost got floored by a UPS truck

Everybody jaywalks where I live, and me and a buddy were standing in the street, waiting til we could jaywalk

I was turned towards him, looking away from oncoming traffic.

Suddenly he grabs me and yanks me back. I was like "hey, why did..."
Before I could finish, WHOOSH... UPS truck right where I just was standing.

Certainly sobering. Plus the guy wasn't even a close friend, just a semi-acquaintance. Strange, to have your life saved anti-climactically by someone you don't really know

I felt like I at least owed him lunch or something
 
I missed getting killed at work by a good 5-6 seconds. We had a Cat 398 crack a piston head and start making some noise. I went over and listened to it with my ear up against the body, heard a rattling so I got up and walked out the door, just as I turned the corner there was a huge slamming noise and oil and smoke started going everywhere. I shut it down and went back to find a palm-sized hole in the enigine body where the piston rod had glanced off the jammed head and came through the jacket wall and outside wall right where my ear had been a few seconds before. I stay away from those motors now. Made me think when I realized I wouldn't have felt a thing when that rod went through my head... Good times.

Holy shit.....I've never heard of a connecting rod actually punching right out of a head like a missile! :shocked:


I'm a believer in fate though. When it's our time to go, it'll happen. It might be something as ridiculous as falling down with a glass of milk and cutting our jugular.

yeah stuff like that is sobering. i saved a girl like that once, in late high school...i was crossing a road behind a girl who was talking over her shoulder, and she had her fat leg extended to take a step into the path of a car when i grabbed her by her sweater and yanked her back...she was that close its a wonder she didnt get wiped out by the passenger side mirror

she was probably the most annoying person in existence. i have been asked repeatedly why i had to have such fast reflexes. now she is married and passing on her genes. please dont ban me...
 
Unfortunately, I've never gotten a chance to save a woman's life.

But if you did, she'd blow you right? I mean, she'd pretty much have to.
 
Twice in my life I've had a car close enough to leave marks on the toes of my tennis shoes. Both times they drove off with a HUGE dent in the top of their cars and never even bothered to come back to dispute my actions...
