COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger said Saturday he has urged bodybuilding officials to crack down on steroid use and suggested calling a summit of the sport's leaders to discuss the problem.

Schwarzenegger, who admits using steroids on the way to seven Mr. Olympia titles, also said he would put pressure on two bodybuilding magazines where he is executive editor to become involved in the effort.

Interesting. He's not trying to increase police efforts on find and jailing steroid users, but rather wants the use to be less rampant in IFBB. I can't say I don't agree with him.

I don't think Arnold is trying to ban steroids from pro BB, I think he is simply implying that things need to tone down a little. That would be extremely hypocritical of him to say that. In reality it will never happen. It's just for show. "OK guys, we will be testing you for using over 5 grams a week. As long as you are under that then you're OK..."

I was there last night when he said he wanted an end to steroid use, there was no "toning down" he wants it stopped, so he says on stage anyways. This coming from the same man who earlier in the week says he has no regrets especially with the money it brought him.

How can you say you have no regrets on the one hand -- i.e., there were no negatives consequences -- and then join in on the misguided hysteria. As if John McCain ever even lifted a barbell! You'd think Arnold would be the last one to join in on the frenzy, but the guy is motivated by one thing -- what's best for Arnold. He has proven that now.

I could see Bush cracking down on recreational drugs. If he were to admit using them, I'm sure he'd say he regretted it. Unlike steroids in the case of Arnold. And we all agree that addictive rec drugs might be nice to sample but once you're addicted you are going to go through some hard times until you quit.

But Arnold's saying he has no regrets to using steroids but then joining all the hysterical politicians like McCain in trying to eliminate their use is entirely hypocritical!

This BS is politics plain and simple. This is a big deal with the media because they have nothing else to talk about and Canseco just addds fuel to the fire. Arnold knows this and watch, after the start of the baseball season and that heat blows over, this crap will fade away like every other issue of the moment.
My best example for this is how many stories do you hear now about what's going on in Iraq, or Afshitistan. Before the Iraqi election you would have thought it was a slaughter of the Americans there, but since the elections were a sucess, the media hates it and has moved on. They were dying for us to fail. I know this having been on the ground in both places, you could watch CNN or the BBC and have been right where something happened and wondered where the hell did these guys see this stuff? It's never the same.

Arnold has to "repent" because he said he doesn't regret using. So of course all of the little kiddies hear this and say "Arnold said it's ok" and look were he is. Now gimmie a tub of weight gainers, animal stack aminos, and some 'beast" drops before I move on to the harder stuff.
