Rotator Cuff ?

Tightness/Stiffness in the shoulder, Pain (usually)

It's probably hard to differentiate between it and an injury to one of your Delts.

Before any shoulder day or Benching, you should always do lateral arm raises and arm rotations (forwards & backwards, little circles & big ones). It might look gay but it sure as fuck beats a rotator cuff injury.

For me, any time I did any type heavy pushing movement it caused pain. I made the mistake of going with cortizone...Then as it progressed, it began to pop out of joint. I finally had to have it repaired....

Recovery sucked, ALOT of pain, a nice scar, and I tend to go light on bench.....

Take care of it now my man.....

What was your recovery like? Time frame?

Around 6 months, but mine was completely gone. I started out in the pool doing simple arm movements. I still remember the first day back in the gym....I began warming up with the bar...That was all I could do....I wanted to cry.

Rubber bands helped alot.....But, I still have probs with it. When I do squats, I cannot let the bar ride to far down my back, if so, it puts way to much pressure on my shoulder...You will learn to overcome and adapt...For me, next time, I'll let them cut my arm off....It was a bad experience for me....having surgery was the biggest mistake I made, along with cortizone injections....

What other option would you of had?

I too have had cort and surgery on my AC and it hasn't been very good to me.

If you want to test for a rotator cuff strain, put your arm straight out with your palm down and have someone place resistence on top of your arm. Press up as hard as you can. If it is a strained RC, you shouldn't feel a lot of pain while you are pressing, but after you finish the pressing, it should hurt quite a bit.

Obviously, if you have a tear, it will probably hurt just to bring your arm up above chest level.

When my rotator cuff is strained, I feel it most, believe it or not, after I finish a set of tricep pressdowns.

Another way to check is hold your hand out like you're gonna shake hands...Arm and hand at a 90 degree angle....Now rotate your lower arm away from your body while the upper arm stays close to your side....

Beastboy, at the time, I had no other options, mine was that far gone, it began to pop out at the smallest of things, even throwing a football was very chancey.....I wish I would've taken time off, let it heal....BUT Nooooooooooooo....I had to be the Macho Buck Stud and keep pushing through the pain....

Lesson learned I guess....Heh heh heh

Much luck to you and yours my man

90% of people have tears in there cuffs, it just all depends on the degree of the tear. i had a very bad case, if i were to lift my arm out to my side, shoulder level, it felt like bone hitting bone, then i would lose all control of my arm, and it would drop like there was a 700 pound weight that hit it, and i would be in tears from the pain. anyways, there are tons of different degrees and types of tears and symptoms.

oh, i had a brused and cracked shoulder blade too :D

my left one is goin whacky again.... every fuckin time i make gains it sets me back 2 months... i went from 300 plus incline to uh, not being able to touch a fucking bar to my chest....

i almost cried in the gym today, it's so fucking frustrating.
