Rotator cuff and bench press

Generic MALE

New member
I would like to hear ya'lls impressions of why bench stresses the rotator cuff, or rather, why rotator training is important for a heavy bench.

My dang torn rotator is really hurting - but only on any presses.

If you want to add rotator cuff work to your list of support exercises, the most important are the standing and lying L-fly movements. These strengthen the external rotators, which have a strength imbalance with your internals.

i do/prefer a "clean" type motion, works just like the standard external rotation people do with cables/bands or lying with dbells. basically go from a "L" position with your arms as if you were doing a shoulder press and invert it, keeping the humerus in place at all times, just allowing it rotate within the shoulder.

its done wonders for my shoulders.
