right calf is swollen, hot and red

Definitely shows all the signs of an infection. Don't wait to see a doc. GO NOW. Don't just start indiscriminately popping antibiotics. Certain antibiotics are more effective at killing certain bacteria. Chances are, all you will do is make the bacteria more resistant and therefore more dangerous and harder to treat. Go to a doc and they will actually isolate the bacteria and classify it to know what the best antibiotic is to use. Remember, the doc can't get you into legal trouble because of the doctor patient relationship. Tell him you gave yourself a shot and it got infected. You don't have to tell him what you shot if you don't want to.

As for your gear. I have posted on this many times in the past few weeks. BUY A FEW 0.2 MICRON FILTERS!! They are cheap and getpinz will have them to your door in a couple of days. 0.45 microns is not good enough to insure complete sterility. Some strains of Staph (a particularly nasty bacteria) are small enough to go through 0.45 micron filters. Furthermore, heat will not kill them as they form heat (and alcohol) resistant spores. The ONLY way to insure sterility is to filter through a 0.2 micron filter. A couple of filters and 5 sterile 50 mL vials costed me only $26.50 delivered to my door. Buy them and filter all your gear into new sterile vials and you will have no more problems.

I have first hand experience with this, as my FINA got contaminated. First, never do homemade shit without a strong antibiotic on hand (i used Zythromax) and the full dosage required to take care of any infection. Second, if your symptoms aren't gone or at least subsiding within 24 hours of noticing them, then get to the doctors immediately- that means E.R. if you can't get an appointment to your doctor.

Most abscesses maybe easily taken care of, but if you happen to get a full blown case of staphylococci in your muscle, well, you may as well kiss it goodbye! That's right, they will have to amputate if it's not treated in time.
:bawling:

My advice is do not run any antibiotics unless you have the full dosage- running partial dosage may work for a few days, but then your infection may come back and be even more resistant to medications. Likewise, some forms of bacteria may not show up on antibody screen after a certain level of antibiotics are taken- "strep" is a good example of this. After your first two days on antibiotics, the strep bacteria is no longer contagious and cannot be picked up on a "quick culture" (or a culture designed to detect antibodies) even though you still have the infection. So if you run some antibiotics, and then go to the doctors , they may not diagnose you correctly until days later- when the final cultures come back.

In conclusion you should: Either find a buddy that can get you some antibiotics STAT, or go to the doctors. Good luck bro, i hope this helped you!

either you are just fuckin with us, or you really don't like doctors why not just go see one what could they possibly do, nothing.

why would i be fuckin with you?....you are scaring the shit outta me about getting my fuckin leg amputated...i hope YOU are playin about that

Liquedmuscle- I injected winny in my calf a few weeks ago and the exact same thing happened to me. My calf swelled a inch bigger around and I couldn't walk at all. It was bright red also. I just sat it out and it took 3 days to break it. I'm not trying to say its not infected just telling you I had the same thing and it turned out allright. Good luck bro.

Well, i don't know about mikelong23, but i'm not playing with you- nor am i trying to freak you out. I'm just giving you my experiences so you can decide how to deal with yours. It may be nothing, then again, it may be a worse case scenario. I'm no doctor, and i don't know what your calf looks like or how it feels...

I got staff once- in a mosquito bite on my left calf. I played basketball on it, and it festered for only two days, then i went to the doctors. He told me that had i waited another day, he might have recommended amputation, because the puss would have been embedded in the muscle. Now think about how much easier it is for puss to embed itself into the muscle in a deep injection...

Bro,
You do have symptoms of an infection; however, i have had the same thing happen with my quads as i do injections there. I know for a fact if you have been injecting in the calf for a while....its probably irritated. Think about it...you are jamming a needle into your muscle every couple of days. Your t-cells are very pissed about this! I have just let it subside and stopped the injection there for a while and let it clear up. However, if it continues to hurt, i definenlty would consult a physician.

update

my calf is normal now, but all the fluid drained to my ankle and foot...my ankle and foot are swollen now but i am assuming that it just from the fluid buildup in my calf
