Reverse grip barbell press???

Triceps. I'm a big fan of it. I use heavy dips as my main tricep builder but like to use either close grip or reverse grip bench as a closer.

The mind muscle connection here is important. Bring the bar down slow, feel the tris doing most of the work. Come all the way down and focus on the tris as you explode the bar back up.
 
It is for Tri's. I've only actually seen one guy do them before who was a powerlifter that used to mentor me from time to time as i was the only other person in the gym that was serious. He was doing 4-6 plates though, he was a big fuck, lol.

damn. During DC training i was doing 2 plates .... in a smythe lol.

If anyone is worried about them being dangerous then try them in the smythe machine first. Get used to the wrist position and movement them transition to the flat bench. Be careful when unracking, looking up with your wrists backwards makes it seem easy to drop the bar on your face.

Done correctly, these will pump the shit out of your triceps.
 
I am always looking for killer things for tri's. I cant do skull crushers or anything overhead for tris. Well not unless I want to injure my tri insertion. Right now I am only doing seated dip machine. which is awsome cause I can sit and find the perfect angle that gets my tris with the least amount of insertion stress.
and I do rope push downs. the rope is more natural with hand positions and isnt as stressfull.
Last tri day i thought hey!!! reverse grip barbell!!! so I threw 135 on the rack and It felt like nothing so I went 185 and it didnt feel like much either. but after a few reps I could feel my elbow getting sore from allready working tris for 30 min so I backed off. I think it might be another good way for me to get what I need , how I need it without making my elbow worse:evil:

Onebreath , I totally hear you on the mind muscle thing. People look at me funny sometimes cause maybe I look like I should be lifting more than I am, but a particular weight might be enough because that super concentration of contracting just the muscle being worked is going on and its plenty. I love watching dudes do barbell rows and its really a Bi w/o for them cause they are retarded:biggrin: and dont know how to isolate a muscle.
