Refeed Days are Killing Me

Is there anyway to diet without using refeed days? These refeed days always lead me to spin out of control and eat like 6000+ calories. Please help.
 
Just plan out the refeed days like you do every other day and you will be alright.

I have seen many people saying that they eat anything and everything on their cheat/refeed days. You just have to remember you are still on a diet and that you have to eat certain things to keep your diet going.

I keep my refeeds under control by going to the grocery store and getting my refeed foods with the rest of my foods and I plan my one cheat meal in with it. I eat 1900cals on regular days and 3500 on refeeds. Most cals coming from carbs
 
i know how it feels bro trust me. ive learned not to look forward to them heck i skip them somtimes too. just throw some kinda fat in there. believe it or not i do reffeds at dutchess and dominos pizza, all together through the carb up i take in about 2-3k in calories of the foods ive listed and im doing great thus far
 
You could try it with foods that you don't enjoy all that much. Also, save your favorite thing for late in the refeed, look forward to it, eat it and then be done w/the refeed. At least that way you won't go too nuts.
 
Oh yeah, NEVER just sit around the house doing nothing on these days. You might get bored and eat "just because you can" and that can fuck you up too.
 
I usually do refeeds Late Fri-Sun, so 2 1/2 days straight... I don't eat until I pop though. I eat restaurant food, I eat a couple pieces of pizza and I don't worry about what I eat. I also work out fri and sun with at least 30 min cardio. I do heavy cardio and training all week with a very strict diet and I lose fat like crazy... So if you really think refeeds are killing you, I think you are over worrying. Just eat the shit as meals... and you should be fine... I even drink like once a week and I have no problem dropping fat.
Unless you don't do any cardio.. maybe then i could see it being a problem

Anyways, I thought Par was the one that discovered this Leptin level stuff, now he is gonna say we dont need refeeds? Should be fun.

Must be a high calorie 'day' with near no carbs. High calories, high protein, low fat & near zero carbs??
 
Is it vanadium? I saw a couple abstracts that said that it increased leptin at least as much as carbohydrate overfeeding.

Or my second guess is to create your caloric deficit through added activity rather than diet. I saw a couple abstracts today suggesting that this did not have an effect on leptin levels beyond that which would be expected from simply having lower body fat.

I am really looking forward to this article becasue I seem to be getting a little smoother than I normally let myself get on this bulking phase and I still have about 3-4 weeks to go.

Acipimox is a nicotinic analog, used to treat high-cholesterol that works by decreasing the release of fatty acids from adipose tissue and reducing blood concentrations of LDL cholesterol. In a study on type-2 diabetics, acipimox increased leptin levels, decreased body weight and maintained the diurnal variations in leptin which flatten out during dieting. The increased leptin concentrations are thought to increase glucose uptake in skeletal muscle.???

I dont get it I thought that you were stating that Friday (today) the next leptin article was coming out and there was a better way to refeed etc. Not some supplement that youre pushing. :rolleyes::rolleyes:

I read the whole thing, seems solid. I was wondering, though, could you just take this stuff in place of a refeed or do you need to take it daily to keep levels high? I'm assuming if you took it every 3 days the results wouldn't be as good, but would they be at a level comparable to a refeed?
 
My main question is, should refeeds still be done even while using Lepti-Gen or do you feel it would be a waste. I would think they should still have a place but not as often. Just curious.

This is what I am wondering too. It would seem as though they would still serve a purpose in replenishing glycogen (maybe a more moderate abreviated refeed is in order). Also, since leptin would not be an issue is there reason to stay with isocaloric or would one do best to drop carbs very low? I would like to know the optimal composition of the diet in conjunction with this produce.
 
Par mentioned allready that he doesnt want to post the ingrediants or all the details at this time for the fact other companies will just rip off the idea on keeping leptin levels up. I dont blame him, im sure muscletech would try and launch a product in a month if they got a hold of some of hos leptin theories and formulations.
 
I think that we all know it takes patents to go through. Maybe he just wants it to hit the market before they get the actualy patent???

I filed patents on a couple of the ingredients, but patents take forever and are ignored to a great extent in this industry, anyway.
 
I didn't realize you were working on a non 'drug' formula, silly me. Are OTC ingredients (such as cough suppressants) considered drugs??? I'm sure most of the competition could work out most of the ingredients by deduction if we're talking about readily available non prescription stuff. Without publically conjecturing on your formulation (I appreciate how much work you've put in and hate to see people scooped), I am wondering about the inclusion of the blood-brain barrier transport apsect of it. It seems on the one hand that you're aiming this at already lean bodybuilders with low peripheral leptin levels but unimpaired brain uptake, yet on the other hand you've thrown in this ingredient which would prolly only benefit someone who's obese with peripheral and central leptin resistance and reduced brain uptake. Just curious more than anything........

Sounds fun. You've certainly got people thinking! I'll wager it won't work as well in women as men, but then few things do!!!

I think there are only about 5 people who could do any productive conjecturing on the matter, and none of you guys make supplements :)

You are probably quite correct, in regards to women, unless they have pretty low bodyfat.

I expect that increasing uptake would help in lean people, as central levels are still considerably lower than peripheral, even in the leanest subjects.
 
We'll I was thinking about this last night (conjecturing as you would say). I know it's not your marketing emphasis (LOL), but I have been thinking for a while about a similar supp (with fewer ingredients) to treat female PMS symptoms, especially the often uncontrollable appetite which I'll wager is due at least in part to the decrease in estrogen mediated drops in CCK/Leptin signalling. I would love to test this out sometime. Sadly (as you are clearly aware) the costs of proper clinical trials combined with patent issues surroundig the use of common amino acids, minerals and other OTC ingredients means that these combinations of drugs may be very effective, but never used medically since there's no money in it for the pharmaceutical companies. The more I think about it the more it pisses me off. Anyway, I hope your sales soar and your product is an unqulaified success.

They will be listed on the label, and they will be listed on our site when the next issue of M&M goes up (which will contain an article on various nutrients that modulate leptin expression/sensitivity), including the ones in our product.

Yes, I would still do very moderate refeeding/carb-ups to keep glycogen somewhat full. No real reason to stay with an isocaloric diet, other than the anti-catabolic effects of insulin from carbs (which, of course, would be accompanied by insulin's anti-lipolytic effect)
