For some reason I could always control my benzo use better than my alcohol (I don't drink at all anymore).
I once got to the point where 2.0 mg xannies weren't effective. That's my benchmark, if I acquire a tolerance past 2.0 mg I've always been successful in cutting back.
Although I'm a neurotic mess I never experienced bipolar. It's my understanding you can lead a fairly normal life if treated with the right meds.

there are androgen receptors in the brain (hence androgen mediated aggression) so I can imagine years of supraphysiologic amounts would create new androgen receptors everywhere, including the brain. T clearly affects at least some neurotransmitter (serotonin, maybe dopamine too) levels as well as evidenced by post AAS depression a lot of men experience.

Lack of homeostatis hormonally will cause mood swings and depression. They def will exacerbate preexisting depression, but it depends on your dosing schedule etc.
There's degrees of bipolarism. Bipolar 1 and bipolar 2 are very different. Bipolar 1 is tough, because theres true episodes of mania and voices etc. Bipolar 2 is generally just more depressive with episodes of feeling "good". Most bipolar 2 people are actually highly functional. Katherine zeta jones has bipolar 2. My shrink even suggested i had bipolar 2, but that just means the depressive portion of it was stronger and most bipolar 2 don't need any of the anti psychotic meds like lithium or seroquel.
Wellbutrin and intuniv keep me happy, stable and functional.
You'll be fine man. You just need to make sure you address the underlying issues. A consistent low hrt dose and the right meds will do you right.

i just assumed the post AAS depression was from low/recovering T levels and high estrogen
