I am not happy with the way your doc is treating you--requiring an office visit. He has prescribed Xanax to you before, youare an established patient, and he knows you need the Xanax for your intermittent anxiety. Let the office know you just got laid off. In my 14 years of practice, I never charged for a situation like this.
