I can't STAND being in a room with clocks that have "ticking" second hands. tick.. tock.. tick.. tock.. it drives me crazy.. especially when I'm by myself. Why? I can drown out almost any other background noise in my mind... but not that.

I've already considered that it might mean I'm gay, so move past that one.

Get a ticking clock and learn to sleep with it....pretty soon your brain will completely tune it out. Classic desensitivation. (Plus you are probably gay.)

You probably have a form of ADD and find the sound irritating since it disrupts your concentration.

By yourself vs with other people is the answer. With other people = background noise, business, other distractions. By yourself = nothing but you and your gay little brain.

Try this - sit in a room by yourself with a loud ticking clock. Sit down, lay down, just get comfortable. Close your eyes and begin to count the ticks. Sort of meditate. Maybe time your breathing with the clock. Eventually the clock becomes a part of you - same environment, same life.

Steal its frame. :)

go lift weights or whatever it is you need to get ahead

my guess is you're alone a lot.

ok, of course you are. :)

It stems from watching TV Game shows in the late 80's which had ticking clocks the contestants had to beat to win prizes. It has left a mark on you and your mind refers to that every time you hear it.

Go back to when you were ten, watching those shows.... and kill the baby sitter. I'm so sorry, but that's the only way out.

I wanted to tell you earlier, but when Bob Barker retired, I thought it would go away. Apparently not. God speed, and use an 8 inch knife, at least.
