I have a 5.1 system that sounds pretty good, but you have to crank it so loud to hear all the details in the sound.
These suckers are nice and crisp, with bass tight enough to feel every gunshot and explosion. So far I played the opening stage of MGS4 and it is full of ambiance and bass from distance shellings. Plus you hear so many more little nuances like in the Dolby Digital intro for instance.
Killzone 2's opening stage sounds awesome as well. This game arguably has the best sounding weapons in general, and the few I've tried have a nice, dense "pop" to them. I'm sure MP gaming will also be a step up being able to hear things like footsteps clearly.
Being only "virtual surround" though, the directional awareness with headphones will never be as distinct as a true 7.1 home theater, but for the price it sure is a better bargain. Plus the bonus of being able to game at night without disturbing the GF lol.
Another thing, they're wireless, and charge the same way as the DS3. They're absolutely silent when idle too, which is surprising for a wireless product. No hissing/buzzing/etc.
I checked reviews on Amazon but got them locally at Gamestop.
Amazon.com: Wireless Stereo Headset: Video Games
PS3 owners also have another cool deal I just found:

Looks like a PS+ subscription is paying off little by little. Can't go wrong with 3 free games that were actually good.
