problems w/ bowels.......

Hey guys,

This should prolly be in diet disc board, but I have kind of a medical issue now. I've just recently (~4 days ago) started on a bulking diet......like 350g protein/4K Calories daily. I've been getting a good amt of fiber (psyllium seed husk & lots of salad). My problem is that I'm having difficulty expunging anything. Another words it's like constipation, but I think that the problem is more due to some inflamation in the o-ring area. I know I'm going to get the "stop the anal sex" responses here, but if anyone can be serious, I'd really like an idea of what to do here. I'm thinking it's the diet in some way.

I'm kinda worried. If it'll help I can list exactly what I eat on an average day. Oh also, there is alot of irritation in that area as well. If any doctors on here could give me some insight I'd also appreciate it. Karma to all helpful responses.

Eat even more fiber, it will get better. You're eating a lot of protein, you may think you "get a lot of fiber" but if your straining then your not getting enough.

for me running 5 days a week (5 miles per run) has solved any problem with that.

but before i ran ED i would get constipated on low carb diets mostly

quick fixes are:
1. 20-40 grams of powdered vitamin C
2. 1-2 grams of magnesium
3. 1 bag of pitted dried prunes / or 1 bottle of prune juice (too many carbs for my liking but it works)
4. heavy dose of caffeine on an empty stomach

...also I find if I eat a lot of protein that includes some animal fats things go a lot more smoothly. Or, another way to look at it, if I am getting my protein from VERY lean sources like 2lbs of fish, or lots of protein shakes made with water things don't go so well at all.

What makes you think it's inflammation does it hurt? Or does you just not have the urge? If it's inflammation could be a hemorrhoid, try some Prep H. Post your diet up, if it's extremely low fat add some flax seed oil.

Could also be that you're not getting enough water.
I'm drinking like 11-12 16 oz glasses of water a day. That's like a gallon and a half of water. I doubt lack of water is it. Plus I'm pissing like a fountain and like every 30 mins or so (it's always pretty clear though--only ever ever dark yellow in the mornings).

Also, have you tried a laxative?
Not yet, but I'm going to get some Ex-Lax or Milk Of Magnesia (WHICH IS BETTER?) today at lunch.

That much cardio is not an option; I am on a bulking cycle, and that much cardio will be insanely catabolic. Mebbe I'll up my wind-sprints.

The reason I think it's inflammation is that yes, it hurts, especially when I'm trying to pass a stool. And I've had to use lotion to curb the irritation, I can definitely feel that the "area" is REALLY tight. I mean just touching it hurts. Also, there is no visible damage or anything. Also, I'd like to mention for that past 2 weeks I haven't had toilet paper, so I've been using paper towels for wiping. That definitely has added to the irritation (got tons of TP now). I think hemorrhoid's have externally visible symptoms, right? Otherwise I may try some Prep. H.

OK MY DIET:

MORNING VITAMINS:
2 Psyllium seed husk capsules
1 Centrum multivit
150mg B-12 (3 tabs)
50mg B-complex (1 tab)
150mg Zinc (3 tabs)

Protein Shake (55g)
2 flaxeed oil capsules (~8g fat)

MEAL 1:
4 large raw eggs (I've been cooking them for the last couple days though) (25g protein)
1 Chicken breast (17g protein)

MEAL 2:
Oatmeal (35g carbs)
1 Protein bar (30g protein/30g carbs)

MEAL 3:
2 Chicken breasts (35g protein)
1 Psyllium seed husk capsule

MEAL 4:
1 turkey, turkey bacon, and fat-free cheese sandwich (50g protein/12g carbs)
1 Large salad (Pre-mixed iceberg salad ~4oz)

Post-workout shake (55g protein)
**I have to workout at night due to the hours I work**
2 flaxeed oil capsules (~8g fat)

MEAL 5:
1 turkey, turkey bacon, and fat-free cheese sandwich (50g protein/12g carbs)
1 Psyllium seed husk capsule

THROUGHOUT THE DAY:
I sip on a single serving of N-Large-2 (65g protein (w/ 15oz. milk) / 35g carbs, etc.)

Any further info would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

For me one dose of ECA ALWAYS does the trick...(any stimulants really...)

Though I have to ask...no TP for 2 weeks :eek2: If you need some cash for TP I'll send you some...no man should ever have to go without that :(

Hahahah wasn't a cash issue w/ the TP. Just had been really busy, and hadn't had time to go to the store. Plus I had tons of paper towels laying around. I got back the TP now. Definitely less irritation, but other problems persist.

Oh, and what exactly is ECA?

Take a butter knife and jam it up there. It works similar to getting ketchup out of a bottle.

these kind of threads always amaze me. see a doc

doesn't look like your getting enough carbs for you "bulking" diet

and N-Large has more than 35 g of carbs with a 65 gram serving of protein... more like 100 grams of carbs there.

also do u take nething before bed??

B4 bed I do usually that last sandwich, or a protein shake (each time I do protein shake, I take 2 flaxseed oil caps. And yea, I wasn't sure about the N-Large-2 carbs, but the protein is like 70g w/ 15 oz of 2% milk.

And I got Ex-Lax MOM and Prep. H. We'll see how it works.
