just curious about how insurance plays into it,
They don't... I had to make choices and pay for it all myself. Insurance was happy to pay for $500/month in blood pressure pills, hypoglycemia and pre-diabetic care, and they didn't care that I hadn't had a morning wood since I was 17.... They don't "support" testing or treatment for aldosteronism. It's all politics.
I don't think we're supposed to discuss costs specifically, but let's say that I'm paying about the same as anyone age 40ish would pay for regular individual health care, but I'm treating the CAUSES of the problems rather than medicating the symptoms, which the insurance companies love to do while letting the causes fester. I don't want to give anyone a false sense of the cost though... It's not cheap. As I said, I made choices. Cheaper used cars, eBay for other stuff, and plenty of hard work.
