still trying to recover from the Music City strongman contest, now its time to prepare for B Folds day.

Speed Bench - 185lbs x 10 x 3.

Speed Ohp - 135 x 4 x 1.

Close Grip bench - 245lbs x 2 x 3.

1 arm overhead db Ext - 30lb x 3 x 10.

plate raises - 45 x 3 x 10.

Hercules hold - 150lbs each hand for 58 seconds. then 150lbs plus me and my partner's wife pressing down on each stack due to our gym only haveing 150lbs per side.

feel good, im really jazzed about the contest......... anyone in the 250lbs better bring their A game, cause im definitely bringing mine.

now i'm 175 but maybe by then i will weigh alil more if i can. i know i would get cremed in the 200's but i just need to put on weight bw now and feb so i dont care.

Exodus:

Keep working those triceps, tate presses, overhead presses, etc... You will need them on the Viking Press.

Hit the cardio...work the foot drills. Can you jump rope???

As of right now...nope. I really think that defeats the purpose of it being a Viking Press... The double dip on the Viking Press makes a HUGE difference and I just don't agree with it on the Viking. We can't do it at ANY Pro contest... Not sure why they let people get away with at in NASS contests.

i just tried the herc hold on crossover machine from top w/150 and did it for i min and 4sec. so i really need to work on that.lol

You can use leg drive...you just can't double dip. I get enough leg drive on the beginning of the lift to get the bar well over my head. Come on up soon and use mine...so you get a better feel of how it will be.

B fold........ will do on making the tri's stronger......... yeah i can jump rope, i just got the most recent issue of monster muscle..... it has a good section on strongman. it said that they best peice of cardio equip you can use is the stair stepper......... what do you think..... ?

I'm sure I'll get LOTS of complaints about the Viking Press from LOTS of people. They went and let them double dip at the Beast fo the East this year and everyone will expect that rule from here on out...lol.

I think that it will benefit everyone if they can set up some way to simulate the medley. You will need to run 25' with a yoke, back 25', down 25' with a tire, back 25', down 25' with a power stairs medley, back 25', then drag a sled 25'...:) None of the implements will be that heavy for anyone but the time that they waste between implements will be crucial...

im glad you just told me that, because i would have assumed that it was just do yolk 25 feet, drop it pick up duck walk and keep going. now that i know well have to run back, that puts a whole lot more emphasis on things.

I was going to set it up in a straight line, one after the other, but it would suck to reset the equipment after every person did the event...

Hey exodus,
I did " a little" stair stepping" last night and think that it feels similar to the burn your quads get while doing the sled drag.
As far as "the best" I seem to think all "interval" type cardio would be good.

you bend you knees and shove up like a push press, then dip your knees again and catch it like a jerk on the olympic clean and jerk. so once you dip your knees again, your arms are straight and locked out overhead, then all you have to do is squat the rest of the way up.

stair stepper, hahaha. i won't say how long i did it, did it till my quads cramped severely. have not worked quads much lately due to knee pain, so after bout 3 1/2 minutes, i cramped and i left the gym. may try to a little more after dynamic lower body tonight:)

worked on my ohp a min ago(sucks)
maxed w/like 190(gotta get my shoulders better., anyways its a pr.)

and i set a pr on squat(never squated heavy at all) 345;)
 
good job king, cuthbert, you know i'd like to see you in 225's. then i'd have to really get to work. not sure what more i could do???
 
def progressing, last fall, my max push press was 190 also. i could close grip 325, but not push press crap. hahha
you are going the right direction king:)
 
brian747479.......... im kinda the opposite. when i was up in kentucky in April, i had a max bench press of 275lbs. but at the training day i did 210 on the log for 3, go figure.
