PR of sorts...

Lee

New member
Well I set a PR today in a different manner than most. I just tried a new excersize. Real squats, I finally did real squats instead of hack squats. Be it that I used 185 pounds for 5x5, I still did em. Although some in the gym were looking at me like "why the hell is a 6'5" 220 pound kid squats such a weak ass weight" i didnt mind, cause I knew the people here would support me as I started my squats and as I progress in the future.

185 x 5 x 5 is not a "weak ass weight", especially since it is your first time.

Anyway, forget other people. Forget the actual numbers you're lifting. Just concentrate on making them go onwards and upwards.

I'm pleased you're squatting :)

Lee,

Look inside yourself. Find the reason why you lift. If it is for you than forget the weights, the environment and all of its surroundings. Learn and perform each exercise correctly. You will see that over time you will become stronger, bigger, and wiser. :)

ps..I have been lifting and training some 10 years now and I'm still learning every single day. I will learn everyday until I retire from the iron.

* Congrats on the PR

thx guys. and i do lift for myself, but sometimes its hard not to notice 5 guys looking at you talking when there is a mirror in front of me.

Holmes, if you did 185 for 5x5 at my gym you would be refered to as a "monster."

lol, actually im one of the few people who ive ever seen do real squats at my gym. most people dont even touch the hack squat machine, and very few do smith machine squats.

If he did 135x5x5 he'd be a monster at your gym LOL

If those guys were actually talking about you, and no one else does squats in your gym, odds are they were wondering what it was you were doing.

Good point Ghee. I bet they were worried you were going to hurt yourself with that much weight on your shoulders.

I felt great last night squatting 165 x 4. If you have 45lb plates on your bar at my gym, you look good. They hardly get used at my gym.

personally om addicted to squats, and i have to say im the only one at my gym who squats...besides my sister, but she doesnt count b/c she's got the same drive i do.
Anyways, lee your gonna see some awesome gains now that your real squatting. Keep it up man!

Bro, it's awesome that you're squatting now. Don't worry about the weight or what those punk ass kids were saying. I bet anything that either (1) they don't squat at all, or (2) they think they're hot shit because they can 1/4 more than you fully squat.

Keep up the good work homey.

And today he became a man. (Wiping tear from eye)

Awesome bro keep working and don't worry what others think. Besides I have friends who still have problems with 185 and they have been squatting for a couple of years now.

Cheers,
