hey guys...

I have a question here, and was looking for some feedback before I contacted a lawyer for advice on to see what can be done.
Years ago, back when I was about 18-21, I'm 27 now...I got pulled over for car tint, and had some gear on me,...long story short,...cop found it, was a full 100 blister of Hemogenin-50. I had to go to court, pay a fine, end of that...Then shortly after, my luck just kept on getting better, words were exchanged, dude put his hands on me, and I had gotten myself into a fistfight...guy was a cop,...was charged with harassment. Have no idea why.... Now, years later I found this shit out about the harassment WTF?...But that was it,...I'm really a level-headed guy, verry mellow, far from edgy or "high-strung"...but shit happens I guess, and I had a short run of it back then... So,...
I am self employed now, (not drug dealer..lol) 100% legitamite business owner, but times are getting bad, and decisions have to be made whether to keep the business. A friend of mine, & girlfriend's uncle(friend, who is a corrections officer & Gf's uncle who is police liutennant) suggested I can get my record "erased" since it has been a good number of years had passed, nothing else has happened,...and they were "misnomeanors" not "felony" charges. I am unsure of how this works, but they suggested contacting a lawyer, and said,...."paperwork" that is all it is,...cost is under $1k. Then listen to what the lawyer tells you,...and you will most likely ok to apply for police/corrections positions. I have no idea how this works, and if at all possible, but this is what they tell me, both of these guys are in areas of law enforcement. They said, considering the sevirity of the charges, and the situation, ect... I would be ok... Not possible with felony charges though, only misnomeanor. Works by case, by case basis...just see the lawyer.. Am I dreaming here guys, or does anybody here know any truth to this..? If posible?... If all is ok,....I would like to move to Florida, and apply for a corrections position, since I am not sure about the stability of my busines right now... Securing a position as a police officer, and or corrections would be great while trying to keep my business. That's the plan. Corrections would be just fine to start.

All information is appreciated...

Thanks guys... ;)

It is posible, but since federal and state laws vary and sometimes contradict each other, a simple consultation with a lawyer would be the easiest choice.

In general, you should have no problems getting a federal or state job after the record is erased, but lawyers will know how to make that happen 100% b/c once they find it, your application is flagged.

The law varies from State to State. Generally speaking, you can get an expungement if there was no conviction, however, what constitutes a "conviction" varies from State to State too. The pain in the ass comes from notifying every authority that may have any record of the arrest. This will include FBI, NCIC, State police, local police, prosecutors, magistrates, etc. If you are successful, they are all ordered to physically destroy the records. It used to be easier to get records expunged but most States are making it much harder. Talk to an attorney in your state to get the specifics.
